I ate here today with my family for my birthday, we used to love it there. The food today was horrible, the soup was a weird combo with lots of frozen peas in coconut, the sour dough wasn’t great and not even toasted. The chips are frozen now, they used to be some of the best in Tassie. But the squid, I can’t stress how bad it was. I love food, love seafood and love squid, but this was under cooked, not scored or tenderised, the fishy smell was so strong it seemed on the turn, I could still smell it after washing my hands twice, it was charred but had no flavour other than the over powering bitter taste of a bad grill. Simply gross is all I can say and in a boring salad with bad quality olives. I told them very politely and was offered no apology or discount. I don’t usually complain but it was just so poor and so disappointing. They are not the the velvet lounge of old and will soon realise they are destroying the brand as more people stop returning.$88 for a few entrees and a coffee one leaves quite upset parting with so much for so little in the way of quality.

Love the new look since it reopened. Very efficient, friendly service and delicious food. Be prepared to pay $28 for mains and an extra 15% surcharge on weekends.

Temporarily closed. The Red Velvet Lounge is closed awaiting repairs to the kitchen.

The most delicious warming lunch on a cold foggy day – and beautiful roast parsnip to die for! I’d come back just for a plate of parsnip!! Lovely cosy atmosphere, highly recommended for a more upmarket lunch.

Great food and service in a lovely town. Every time we travel to Tas, we always come through the Huon Valley and wind up in Cygnet and head straight to the RVL for lunch – always wonderful food and service. Can’t wait to move to Tas permanently

Couldn’t fault the food or service we experienced here. Nothing was a bother and a lot of care given to our toddler which we really appreciated. Food was delicious. Would recommend.
