This used to be an amazing restaurant, both before and after their tragic kitchen fire which forced a long closure. I had some really amazing food there, some of the best in the region. Sadly, everything has changed. All the food is quinoa-and-the like based vegan stuff. RVL used to be famous for its banoffee pie. Now all the desserts are gluten-free, dairy-free, fun-free coconut-oil-and-avocado-brownie style concoctions. Of course, all this is fine if that’s what you’re looking for BUT beware going here based on previous reviews on this app. It has COMPLETELY changed in food and character.
We wanted to have lunch. But it wasn’t being served for another half an hour. Wanted to keep going, so had coffee and Spanish flan. Ooohhhhh these were strong coffees!! No complaining but for almost two weeks, we’ve been having rather weak coffees all around tassie and this was like a wake up call! The Spanish flan was so good. Whether or not it is a real Spanish flan, I can not comment because I haven’t had that many of them. But it tasted so good. Like a more dense creme caramel. Just heavenly. And surprisingly no indigestion afterwards.
