The setting of this cafe is amazing – by the water, looking over boats. Its a small cafe, a couple of tables, with one person in the kitchen and one at the front of the house. On Fridays and Saturdays, they do dinner, which was the meal I was there for. The menu is short, but inviting with a good selection of seafood dishes.Pricing is a little high – tiger prawns entree was $19 with two tiger prawns. It was well cooked and delicious though. Their recommended main dish is the seafood pie ($29), and it was a good recommendation. One of the best (crustless) pies I’ve had, full of seafood and tasty as hell. Other items on the menu seemed a bit pricey for what they were – fish and chips was $24/25 for example.Service was a little slow as the cafe was full, and with only one wait staff that meant that it was hard to get prompt service.Overall, food is good, but the pricing seems a bit high for the ambience (cafe style), service level, and remote location.
Just dropped in to taste some wine (they act as cellar door for Bream Creek) but stayed for a taste of scallops with a glass while sitting on the deck overlooking the water. Beautifully cooked and presented. We will be back for more.
Dissapointing. We found the fish shack in dunally closed so tried this place, suspect it could be good but our meal was a ripp off, ran out of fish for our meals so they served us a tiny little piece of fish each and charged $26 for the privilege. The chef asked every table in the place how there meal was but gave ours a wide berth same with the waitress. They knew they had served us a dodgy meal and should be embarrassed. Its a shame, as i said yhe others meals could be ok but will not return and will tell others the same.
Must try as you drive down the peninsula!. Fantastic little cafe, was definitely some of the best quality we had in Tasmania. The bruschetta was made with such fresh and succulent produce and the beef burger with relish and mustard hollandaise was completely divine. A culinary gem in sleepy Dunalley.
Dropped in for Breakfast on a bleak winters day. The reception was warm an friendly and the views simply stunning. A different take on the Big Breakfast with chorizo sausage and Mexican beans clever an delicious!! A Must visit!!
Great restaurant. As locals, we feel so lucky to have such an excellent restaurant nearby. We patronise this restaurant several times each year and have never been disappointed in the food or service. In fact, I love Ben’s seafood pie so much, I just don’t get past ordering it every time! We were there last night and the seafood pie was as good as ever. The desserts are so delicious too and Steph makes a mean coffee. There is also a good selection of local and mainland wines.Thoroughly recommended – and thank you, Steph and Ben. Keep up the good work.
Fantastic place I would absolutely say make this a stop off! We went there 2 times over 2 days – once for coffee and cake, which was wonderful! We sat out on the deck and took in the local sights. Second visit was breakfast and boy was it great!!!! The big breakfast was fresh and impeccably done with eggs to die for. My husband had the Canadian breakfast and raved about it. I must say the service was wonderful and personable. We felt like old friends being welcomed back. Please go to this hidden gem you will not regret this !!!
