Too salty and too Chinese-Japanese style on a Japanese Noodle houseSome dish combo didn’t match correctly If you went there just for having full in stomach, it’s could be your choiceBut if you have a little ideas on Japanese food or even on Japanese noodles, please pick the another one
Good value and tasty noodles. I had the vegetable stir fried noodles – they were a bit oily and there wasn’t much variety in vegetable (cabbage and capsicum) but they were satisfying and it was a large serve. I also had vegetarian spring rolls – they were large and had a very tasty filling, probably some of the best I’ve tried. There wasn’t much of an atmosphere to the restaurant, but meals were served quickly and staff were friendly.
My soup was very oily but the pork was soft enough. there was not very much of anything in the bowl apart from noodles. okonomiyaki was meh. tofu was lack of flavor. wouldn’t go back.
Noodles are so simple and I love them! Even your run of the mill 2-minute variety still generate a little bit of excitement every time I decide to cook up a bowl at home As I’m sure you can imagine, tasting the ramen in Japan was like heaven when we visited a few years back. On the other hand, it gave us a pretty high quality point of comparison for anything we were to ever taste in the future. So far the best ramen we’ve had outside Japan was at Mensousai Mugen in Melbourne (drop by the blog for our review). So how did Koma Ramen on Elizabeth St in the heart of Hobart stack up?They are certainly better than average, but I still walked away feeling a little underwhelmed. When it comes to ramen it’s the broth that is number one. Koma’s was nice enough, and had clearly been cooked from scratch over a decent amount of time. However it lacked the balance, depth and intensity of flavour of a truly great ramen. The noodles also were quite thin, giving them a less substantial consistency than your typical udon or soba noodle. Still, we ARE talking noodles and noodles are always amazing In MKR vernacular, the pork slices were the hero of the dish. Not too thin, not too thick, they held their shape in the broth very well and had a really rich, slightly salty flavour that had me wanting another half a dozen slices! It only set me back $12 for what was a very decent sized bowl of ramen. This is a great lunch time option for those working in town, providing you’re confident mixing noodles and suits It’ll be even better come winter!!Score? 3 out of 5 food Komas! forkandfoot.com
Points were given for the Ramen Soup (i had Teriyaki Chicken Ramen Noodle Soup) and the Takoyaki (Octopus Balls) because they are a definite must try HOWEVER points were deducted by the service (waitress was rather rude) also prices of food is rather expensive (EG:$8 for the Gyoza which were essentially bags of oil that exploded into your mouth once you bit into it) and $5 for Green Tea (from Lipton-the ordinary ones)Overall i would only recommend the Ramen Soup Noodles and Takoyaki
Food court standard – Disappointed with the ramen, especially if they are hand made. I ordered chicken ramen $13. The ramen was underwhelming with only 3 strips of chicken. However, the broth was full of flavour (a bit salty for me). They now have sushi.I’ve been here twice, that’s probably enough for me.
