We enjoyed both the service and the food here. The special fried rice was full of flavour, everything was nice and fresh. It is a little pricey but it has a wonderful outlook as well.

The Best Pad thai in Hobart!. I’ve tried pad thai in many different restaurants in Hobart and this place makes the best pad thai in Hobart!!!I also had spice duck (forgot the name of the dish) and it was amazing! The staffs are very friendly. The restaurant is located right next to the water so it got really nice view. The only complain I have is the portion is not that big compare to the price. However I think this is one of top ten restaurant in Hobart!

I used to love this place for many years, initially for their ‘cheap and cheerful authentic cuisine’ then they moved and became a more refined but still reasonably priced Thai staple. This most recent move sees Mai Ake now located in the old ‘Blue Skies’ location on the waterfront. I went there tonight for dinner and it looks the same decor wise but the menu has changed. Most notably the huge price hike. The mains ranged from $27 for the veg stir fry up to $45 for the prawn stir fry. We sampled 2 entrees and 1 main. The entrees were fine but the chicken satay and duck rolls (although the small amount of duck in them took quite a bit of finding) were no better quality than many other fine Asian restaurants around town for half the price. The steamed fish main was also quite pleasant and a reasonable portion, nice clean flavour etc but I thought $34 was too expensive. Oh, and the rice is an extra $2.50. The service was attentive and staff very polite but as there were only 4 other diners when we were there, it was looking like a quiet dinner service. So for now we won’t be going back but hopefully the reviews will improve as they iron out the kinks in their new venue.

Best massaman curry I’ve had in years. Definitely the best in Hobart. Have been here a few times. Many delicious meals. Roti is consistantly undercooked but that is my only complaint.
