After dining at Dier Makr, I was really looking forward to another 1 hat restaurant. What a disappointment! I dont mind it being small but it was actually quite noisy giving a full house. Ordered the degustation menu, not only was there repetition but few dishes were actually quite salty. No one bothered about any dietary requirements either….
Despite being on the waiting list for dinner on a Saturday night right until the last second (called at 5.30pm for a dinner seating the same night!) – my partner and I were over the moon to be able to dine at Templo as we had several friends repeatedly recommend it! And although I will admit that this is such a restaurant/foodie-faux-pas we actually cancelled our other dinner reservation in favour of dining here.I was actually surprised at how ‘off the beaten track’ Templo’s location actually was, given that we had primarily stayed around the Salamanca and City Centre which I was understanding to be food hubs. We chose to walk from Salamanca which ended up working up an appetite! Templo lived up to its name of being a small and about 30-ish seater dining space and completely booked out. My partner and I were so hungry as we were saving ourselves for this meal that we straight away looked at the menu written out on the blackboard of a mere 8 items and picked a few to share. We ordered Gnocco Fritto, Baked Sardines, Veal Scallopini and Papardelle Rag – all were delicious and went down a treat with our Shiraz/Tempranillo vino!Staff were attentive, conversational and very helpful. Food had great flavours and was packed with complexity despite their simplicity. Overall we had a great time and would come back and try the chefs menu next time.
We booked this place in advance and Im glad we did, walk ins were getting turned down this place was packed. We decided to order the chefs menu which was lovely. Each dish was simple and perfectly cooked – displaying Tasmanias finest produce. Im so glad we came here, different from what I would usually eat however I appreciated the quality of the food and would recommend it to anyone visiting Hobart.
