This is my first visit and it was memorable for many reasons primarily the location and the food, which was good too. The selection of wines was good centered around Tasmanian (and why not). The ambience was good too. The service although efficient was lacking warmth and connection. However it is a good place to visit. Somewhat expensive but that depends on how much food and drink you consume.
Floating at the end of the pier, the 280c view is fabulous! From the architecture to furniture, all are thoroughly planned. To top this up, the food were created with fine local produce. Nothing beat having a relaxing time at the waterfront together with a delicious meal.
Oh my goodness, the degustation menu was massive! Im on the side of being a big eater for my size in Melbourne but oh boy I was rolling myself out from The Glass House after dinner. I was here for work one night and thought, how much food could a $75 degustation menu be..? They were so nice to let me have the menu on my own despite the little writing that said 2 guests minimum. After I managed to pull myself up from my table, I went to ask the lady at the cashier – were they mistaken and served me with two servings of everything…?? She said no, there had not been any mistakes. Wow! The food was absolutely amazing, and the surroundings surreal. My only wish was that I couldve shared it with one more person as I could not finish my dishes from the beef dish onwards. The portions were much larger than it looks in the photos – the beef, for example, was a substantial main dish by Melbourne standards with about 300gm of meat hiding under the vegetables. Would definitely be back next time for the a la cartel menu!
Reasonably awkward venue to get to, walking through a Tourist Bureau. Once you arrive, you certainly do a lovely room with a great aspect looking over the water. Staff attentive and food was great. A non locals venue lacking a little soul, yet worth a look.
Exceptional service, beautiful dishes with an asian inspired menu. Excellent wine and cocktail list. For more foodie goodness follow my ig: emptystomach
