Perfect spot for drinks. We visited The Squire twice on our trip to Hobart with our first visit primarily for drinks. Our bartender was so friendly and helpful. He was very attentive whenever we were ready for our next round of drinks.The next night we came for dinner and ordered the chicken parmigiana. The coleslaw on the side looked very dry and the ham on the Parma was a bit burnt, but other than that it was okay and a bit better than what you’d expect from bar food. It’s a great bar with a trendy atmosphere.
Great for a drink.. I haven’t eaten here since my last visit to Tasmania 7 months ago. From what I remember the food was tasty. I drank here this weekend and was impressed with the beer and wine menu. It was nice and warm inside and the bar staff were quick and efficient. One thing I noticed was how friendly the security were. You just don’t get that here in Melbourne and I was pleasantly surprised at how sweet and polite they were.
I visited this popular yet demure drab Hobart hot spot and I was disgusted by the staffs inept and vagrant contempt of customer service. I was quite frankly disgusted and very jilted in their inadequacies. Great atmosphere but seriously, GET IT RIGHT!!! Fail… In epic proportions!
Very poor service, bar staff was very rude, ignoring our request. It took multiple attempts to get the attention and a very poor interaction ensued. They didn’t even seem that busy. I definitely do not recommended coming in here for service. The atmosphere is perhaps one of the better aspects of this place, but if you want to be ignored and treated like a leper, then by all means come here for food. Having worked in retail and hospitality for a good number of years, I personally would sack the staff on the spot. It’s a real shame for such a place with a nice relaxing atmosphere. Very poor indeed. Fail.
Took too long to get our meal, tasty but way over priced
We had the chicken Parma, salt & pepper squid, cauliflower au gratin and rocket salad – food was fantastic. Squires beer, needless to say, was great as always. Service was friendly, prompt and attentive. Highly recommended.
