Such a lovely place with great whiskey here. Some of the whiskey is extremely over priced though, so I didn’t end up buying anything to take home. We had a taster whiskey and charcuterie board, it was delicious but unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of the food because we ate it so quickly!
This place is just amazing! It Is he first attractions you meet once you get onto the Island from Hobart with the ferry. There is an uncountable number of whiskey, some locally produced and some rare international gems! The host is amazing, explained to us in detail the history of every Whisky we have tried, soooo good!!
The shop’s samples were terrific. I tried a number of food that I never thought was possible to make. My favorites were the wallaby paste, smoked wallaby and the smoked/marinated salmon. All very tasty and perfect for picnic or pre-dinner spread. Definitely a place to stock up on unique food that isn’t available on mainland Australia. The Bruny Island Smokehouse is featured in a picture blog post of traveling and eating gluten-free food in Hobart and Surrounds. Now called Bruny Island house of whiskey. Change of business name . Great building and views however the price of a beer is astronomical at $18 a glass. Same beer at half the price down the road at cheese company. Would love to be able to go back but have to organise the second mortgage first.
Bad service. AVOID. Worst ever imaginable service I have experienced from some self centred owners.
Food was delicious but outrageously expensive!!
Friendly knowledgable staff. Food is way overpriced. No produce is made on site with most things sourced elsewhere with a ridiculous mark up. Platters for $65 / 75… $ 18 for a beer. Nice views from balcony but saying that there are nice views all over the island. Try somewhere else.
