Discovered this gem while staying in Launceston. The Buns are excellent and the Chatcoal BBQ Duck was delicious. Friends that I went with are locals and they said they will definitely go back. Highly recommend you try it.

Decent Chinese food and very reasonable prices. shanghai pork buns which flavorful though at $10 for 5 it was kinda pricey.

Consistently high quality. Buntalk has an interesting menu and is a small intimate restaurant. The Shanghai buns are superb. Excellent value for money.

Not fancy but always delicious. This is budget chinese food done well. Never disappointed, and kitchen and food prep can be viewed from the tables so no dirty little secrets! Highlights in my book are the noodle dishes and the home made chilli mix.

Typical Launceston try-so-hard-yet-fail-so-badly. Everything straight from the freezer, fried rice with carrot, peas and corn and chicken without seasoning. Overpriced, $22.50 for one duck breast. Having had both their specialties, I wouldn’t say there isn’t anything to go back for.

Fantastic little dumpling joint. Happened upon it by chance. Nothing fancy to look at, but superbly fresh, beautifully seasoned handmade dumplings!! Best we’ve had in Tassie.

Shanghai in Charles Street. A real find- talented young chef from Shanghai doing wonderful food at modest prices….and BYOB. The Shaghai pork buns- explosive little parcels containing pork and a fragrant soup- were as good as we had in Shanghai. The special fried rice is a meal in itself- crispy roast pork belly sensational and where are you going to find well made Peking duck for $22.50? My only gripe is that the appetisers are all 3 piece or 5 piece, and they’re so delicious that whether you’re dining with two or four, there’s bound to be trouble. In the best Chinese tradition, decor and atmosphere are basic, but it’s all about the food.
