Ample inside seating including sofas made the experience of visiting Elaia much more enjoyable. Menu was very pricey so I ordered a soy chai latte. Unfortunately it did not taste very pleasant- not sure if it was the soy milk or the chai that was amiss. Also quite pricey- well over 5 dollars for a small glass- more than I have ever paid in Melbourne. Service however was friendly and the selection of cakes in the front counter-including caramel slice, tiramisu and cheescake- looked delightful. Not sure of the prices however.
I had the eye fillet steak which was cooked to perfection. The side of veg and chips were equally as good. I had a huge rump steak the previous night up the road at the a jailhouse which was good but the one I had at Elaia was much better. The huge open windows at Elaia are also great to watch the world go by.Staff are very friendly and attentive. Will be my go to place whenever I’m in Launceston.
Food was nice, coffee however was very average, someone had cleanly burnt the beans. Staff were friendly and the art hanging on the walls adds a nice touch.
Not surprised about the reviews. The wait staff were so rude and arrogant. They were clear about their role in the cafe – to let you know what you couldn’t have and why.
Good was decent but the service was shocking, waited almost 45 minutes for food, tried to get attention of waitresses but were left waiting while they texted on their phones. Again nice food, but pretty bad service and long wait. Probably wouldn’t come back.
Very disapointing. Waited an hour and a half for food, there was no apology for the delay or explanation. This was surprising as it was the supervisor that finally delivered the food.Once the food arrived it was average, certainly not worth the price. Being a local in Launceston, I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Expensive!!. My husband and I found this restaurant expensive and disappointing. At $10.50 a serve we thought the raisin and walnut toast must be something special. It wasn’t! Just two slices of average raisin toast. Come on Elaia. Lift your game or lower your prices!
