Terrible food and service. All dishes tasted the same – salty and totally unfresh. Terrible terrible food. Because of the time we had to wait the owner promised to give 10% discount and waive the service fee. When we were paying for the dinner the owner said the 10% discount was for the service fee which was never heard before in AUS. We did not care for the extra 20 bucks. But when the food was so horrible we cared extra every cent spent there! Please avoid there. Totally bad experience. Wish I could give zero score.
Awful. Awful. Awful. This is the worst Chinese restaurant I have been to. Ever. My first experience was Chinese New Year. A full restaurant. Unfortunately no staff. After an hour wait, the only dish that was presented was burnt and inedible. We never saw any more food after that. Some people left before they received any food, at all! It was a total shambles. Ended up having drive through at hungry jacks. Every restaurant can have a bad night. So…I have been back 2 more times. While I did have food served , it was awful food. Obviously part cooked, frozen and then reheated. Please avoid this one.
Probably the best Chinese in Launceston. We’ve dined here on several occasions, as a couple and as a group for the banquet – both of which I would highly recommend. Food is glorious, portion size is generous. Puts Canton Chinese Restaurant to shame = and a damn sight cheaper! Me Wah is nice but VERY pricey – me? I’m going back to Jin Xing!
Best Chinese In Launceston. Tried many different Chinese Restaurants in launceston and this is by far the best. It’s not the cheapest in launceston but it’s worth the money the food taste amazing and the vale your your money is out standing. We dine in the service is lovely and we also use the take-away service they have and the containers are not the biggest but how much rice they pack into one container is enough to feed four! Out standing best Chinese restaurant in launceston
NASTY! HORRIBLE! STAY AWAY!!!. Jin Xing Restaurant, 63-65 York Street Launceston Tasmania18 Jan 2015, Sunday, around 7.30pmTwo peopleNASTY! HORRIBLE! could not even consider them food, let alone to verify the dishes being authentic Chinese, or their claim to be Cantonese!ENTREESang Choi Bao — filling was doused with some kind of thick unidentifiable brown sauce. (Soy sauce? Oyster?). At least the lettuce leaves were crispy. AUD$11.50Quail — crispy outside, tender inside. About the only acceptable semblance that is food in this whole ordeal. AUD$7.00Hot and Sour soup — Very salty! Not hot, not sour, just salty! Could not even tell what soup based was used. Baby corn. Looked, felt, and tasted like salted thickened water. AUD$7.00 x2.MAINSLohan Delight — salty! Cauliflower, zucchini, baby corn (strange ingredients for this dish!). Petrified tofu (yup! It was that tough!) Doused in brown unidentifiable thickened water. No Lohan taste. AUD$19.50Rainbow Duck — very dry duck and rancid smelling. Baby corn and zucchini. Doused in some kind of reddish colour sauce, if forced, could be mistaken for highly salted sweet-chilli sauce. AUD$26.00Steamed White rice — very small bowl for AUD$3.00, and not even refillable nor all you can eat rice for that price! x2.No complimentary tea.I could not finish my soup. We took only a couple of bites from the mains and could not continue.I am Chinese, born and bred. Now living in Melbourne Australia. They have a policy of No Refund. So when we mentioned all the above to Yuki the supervisor (?, an old woman), she said that she could cook the dishes again for us. When asked if she is going to cook the same dishes, she said yes. When we said what makes her think that we’ll appreciate the same dish for a second time, when we didn’t not enjoy them in the first place?! She insisted that was the restaurant policy. We were talking to her quietly and softly and trying not to make a scene, but at this stage she was already raising her voice for everyone else (about 6 guests, all Caucasian Australians) to hear, loudly claiming that she has a lot (pointing to the 6) of happy customers. In the end she said in a huff it’s either she’ll cook dishes again or give us 10% discount. We took our 10% discount and left as fast and as far away as we could. The total bill came to AUD$83.60. We ended up in a Food Hall having much more satisfaction with the food at only AUD$9.90 each.Did I mention that I am Chinese, and was talking to Yucki in Mandarin? Also, we have just arrived in Tasmania to start our 10 day vacation. Launceston was our first stop. Gee, I hope this is not Tassie’s benchmark of good Chinese food, or even acceptable Chinese food!yuck!
