Keen to try some Creole cooking – am gobsmacked by some of these reviews and the overall rating, especially compared to some other ratings I’ve seen – I can only assume somebody has lots of family and friends around! I was wholly unimpressed. The staff were reasonable and it was full – but the chicken was mostly dry, the raved about cobbler something I’d expect from a year 7 cooking class (certainly not fresh blueberries) and as for the small square (yes square!) of lettuce and 1 slice of pasty tomato!! Need I go on?! At least the chips were crunchy – albeit from a packet. I spent much of the night worrying about my response if they asked what I thought of the meal – fortunately they weren’t interested – yes the chef (?) came out, but I guess he’s only interested in chatting to the obviously happy customers. Shame really, I was looking forward to it.

Housed in a cosy cottage and decorated with all things reminiscence of the South, the sweet sweet smell of BBQ ribs wafts through the air as soon as you walk in and clings to you like a crazy ex-girlfriend. Licking our lips in anticipation, we were soon devouring the deep-fried crocodile tail fillets (taste like chicken), Fil gumbo and BBQ Boston Butt. I like how they didn’t tone down the heat for the Fil gumbo but my partner sure wish did. The baguette was perfect for soaking up the beautifully spiced thick stew. The BBQ Boston Butt could be a bit more tender and could be drenched in more sauce, but nothing that some chilli sauce can’t fix for the latter. Blueberry clobber was overflowing with blueberries but the biscuit was too doughy, so that was another win-lose situation. Still a great end to our meal and we were pleasantly surprised when the chef came out and thank us when we were leaving. True blue Southern hospitality.

Yum Yum Yum. Had a few meals here now and consistently good. Generous portions even for the men. Friendly knowledgeable service. Desserts were huge. Always happy to go back to this place.

Highly recommend. Delicious Texas style BBQ (amongst other Southern USA cuisines). Very tasty, low key restaurant. Friendly service, cool quirky fitout.

Just had dinner there with the family. As a Texas, I feel somewhat qualified to comment on the quality of bar-b-q. This place does it pretty well. It seems to be an amalgamation of Louisiana (creole-style) and Texas (slow smoked). The result is a somewhat spicy smoked meat. Disappointed that they were out of both brisket and beef ribs. Instead, we had the Boston butt (pork) and dry pork ribs. Both good but, again, a bit over seasoned. If you are expecting pulled pork for the Boston butt, don’t. It was more of a pork roast with perhaps too much sauce. Sides were certainly adequate; beans (a bit sweet) and cole slaw. We had two mains for teh four of us and had plenty of food. The blueberry cobbler (a la mode) for dessert was a perfect finisher for 4 people to split.

Decided to check this out after reading reviews, wasn’t impressed with the service, no water given until I had to ask, was left waiting awhile to put in my order. I ordered the chimichanga which was good but rice wasn’t that great. Wasn’t impressed with the cheap looking garlic bread. Friend had the beef brisket although tender it was quite fatty. Wouldn’t rush back.

Great casual atmosphere. Lovely friendly and helpful wait staff. The food was sensational, but large serves. Should have perhaps ordered less.
