Thinking Swirlz was just a lolly shop, I was gobsmacked when I went up to the counter to pay. Running along the upper top part of the wall from behind the counter to the side of the shop is a menu of what seems like 100 different milkshake’s flavours. (PSA – no photograph of the menu is allowed to be taken) Trying to decide on a flavour will result in frustration and confusion. But you will still go ahead with your purchase despite all this because, here comes the best part, a milkshake only costs $2.50! Add an extra dollar and you get a thickshake. Bargain! Now the million dollar question, does it bring all the boys to the yard? Sad to say, it doesn’t. The caramel coffee milkshake I tried only had the slightest hint of caramel flavour and the coffee flavour was nowhere to be found, or tasted in this case. It also felt like it was vigorously stirred, and not shaken. Such a shame really. I had hopes of coming back for them over and over again for the duration of my stay in Launceston. And I was really having a good time chatting with the sharp-witted lady behind the counter. At least I now don’t have to worry about diabetes.
