Best Turkish food i have ever had. ..so fresh and tasty! Organic with no food warmers…all made just for you..pide bread we had to wait for….it was being baked! Very friendly but not a place if you want a fast feed…. definite go back:)
Love it here. A real homely feel, love coming here with my brothers for a catchup. I don’t think these guys get the kudos of they deserve. Anyone from interstate in particular I highly recommend this restaurant.
There is so much love cooked into this food! I’ve been to this fabulous restaurant twice now and will make it a habit to go out of my way to dine there again when I next come across from Melbourne. The service was warm and made us feel like we belonged to the family. In particular we loved the lamb hot pot which takes about 40 mins but is well worth the wait. It emerges from the kitchen served with a crust of home made pastry which you cut through to release the delicious moist lamb and herb aroma. The killer dessert that finished us off was the Coconut Rice pudding! Don’t remember having eaten a better dessert. Absolutely loved it and especially the warm and fuzzy feeling we got from the gentle and kind elderly owners Oya & Peter. Hope to see you again soon.
Room for improvement. Friendly service but oh dear! We had taken the trouble to book a table but they couldn’t seem to find the booking when we arrived. We were a party of 4. Only three main courses turned up – they had forgotten the 4th and it didn’t arrive until the other diners had finished eating their main courses. We also ordered sides which were not served at all until we queried where they were – apparently they had been served to another table! Eventually we got them after everyone had finished mains. Food was delicious and maybe we would have considered returning had we been offered a discount or free drinks to make up for the poor service – but as this didn’t happen we won’t be back!
Fresh, inventive food and a terrific night out. My wife and I ate here on a Saturday night in a large group that had special dietary needs. We were assigned a private room upstairs that meant we could socialise convivially without bothering anyone else. The banquet we ate took into account all our requirements and was delicious from start to finish. Standouts were a lovely mushroom soup, fresh and tasty Turkish dips that included some we’ve never across before in other Turkish places, Atlantic salmon, and a brilliant baklava-like dessert made with rose water and other aromatic ingredients that we coudn’t resist even though we were stuffed to the rafters. The restaurant was full and the staff must have been stretched, but they never neglected us and were a pleasure to deal with. We’ve been to quite a few Turkish restaurants in Hobart and in Melbourneit’s one of our favourite cuisinesand the food at Anatolia stands out for its originality and clean flavours. There’s a tendency with a lot of ethnic cuisines for restaurants to stick to a formula which often means you get food that ignores many of the the diverse culinary traditions of the home country. That doesn’t seem to be the case with Anatolia. We’ve been a number of times, and have always eaten freshly-prepared food that’s different from standard Turkish offerings in Australia and a delight to explore. It’s a destination, not a stopover.
Delicious Food. Not your average Turkish Restaurant! We didn’t know what to expect based on the other reviews, however the food was delicious and well prepared and the service was friendly and attentive. If you come in with the expectation of eating bain marie canteen-style Turkish food, you will be disappointed. If you are prepared for a fresh approach, based around fresh ingredients and interesting flavours, you will be delighted by the dishes that are presented. We booked for 10 people, but 13 turned up. The staff accepted us with good humour and weren’t at all fazed by the change. This was Saturday night and they were full, so we put them under additional stress but we were made to feel welcome and never felt that there was a problem.
Taste, portions and value for money were not to my expectationsLamb hotpot had very little meat, eggplant was average and not worth the money. Rice in all dishes served was extremely dry. Disappointed.
