THE BEST DAMN INDIAN IN HOBARTI’ve eaten here with family and friends for years, you’ll never walk away hungry. I’ve tried just about every vegetarian curry on the menu, and, to my delight, have found of late they cater for vegans.Chill out and don’t be in a rush.

Went there with a large group of people. The food was okay, the service was terrible. We waited for over an hour before we received our entrees, then waited another hour after repeatedly asking if our food was coming- eventually I had to walk up to the kitchen to talk to someone because our waitress was avoiding eye contact!Would not recommend this place! Maybe it’s okay for takeaway!

I am so surprised to read all of the bad reviews after dining here this evening. I thought it was absolutely delightful . I was promptly greeted and seated with my friend. The service was efficient. We came at the end of the night and most of the other diners had eaten. My entree was delicious and it was great to be presented with pappadums and sauce when sitting down. I had the cheese pakora. Our curries came out in a very reasonable time frame. We had the malai kofta and the cheese tomato . Both dishes were delicious and I thought this was some of the best indian I’ve had. I believe the rice was no cost to us too which was also good . No issues with the quality or waiting for the wine. I had the layered pratha bread which was also delicious . I’m unsure about all the negative feed back re the child in the restaurant it is nice to see a father looking after their child and supporting the mother with care. It’s nice to know its a family owned / operated business and I thought it made it feel more authentically Indian seeing the family playing out back . I would certainly dine here again (and there are loads of vegetarian choices) .. Please note we did not eat meat .

Don’t judge a book by its cover. The Taj palace has fabulous Indian food and the service through takeaway is great and friendly .I have read some other reviews and quite frankly am appalled by some of the comments by those with their first world issues. The Indian food is delicious with subtle flavours and rich in taste.Well priced with generous servings sizes and taste sensation.I have never been disappointed .

Dont go there…. Dont ever go there. The manager roaming around with a Toddler in one hand and taking orders with another. We waited for half n hr only to notice people coming after us were being served before us. ( because we were Indian and not white) When we asked the manager what is happening were told either wait or you can leave! Worst service seen ever!!! Worst ambience worst management and cannot comment about the food must be worst as well!

Delicious!. I am baffled by all the negative reviews here. I have had Taj Palace (both dine in and takeaway) probably 10 times in the last year or so, and it’s always been delicious, never too slow. The only downsides I might agree on from other reviewers are that the staff are mostly young and not attired professionally, and sometimes owner’s (?) very young child is wandering around. The dine-in section feels sort of like someone’s converted living room, and the attitude of everyone working there is very casual, but I really don’t find this particularly offensive. It’s clearly a family-run establishment, and the food is so good I will certainly keep going back.

Nice quality of food but a bit pricey.
