Ordered a big breakfast and French toast but fairly disappointed. Sour dough was too hard to be an actual French toast and the waitress were not professional trained. 3 out of four coffees were spilled when it served. However, the best thing is the view and their farm. Those animals are so adorable! Worth a visit!

Such a beautiful place with lovely views over the lake… its a shame thats all this restaurant has going for it.I hate giving bad reviews but Stonesthrow need some constructive criticism.I came here with my partner for a quick bite to eat on a Tuesday just before midday. There was only about 4 or 5 other tables occupied when we sat down. We ordered a share plate and had to wait 50 minutes for it to come out. Not only that, but for a beautiful part of the world like Tassie and the produce that itHas to offer, I definitely wouldnt pay ($44) for this again. The staff (all 8 of them) were young and seemed very rookie-like. Lots of confusion, inattentive and lost. If these guys were to get a few experienced staff and a menu that had something that stood out, it could potentially be an amazing place…

Sinking Stone. After trying to get through to book over the phone with no luck, my boyfriend and I decided to risk it and headed to Stones throw for Sunday lunch. The matired almost rolled her eyes at me when I told her that we didnt have a booking, well it will be a 30 minute wait thats fine we said. She then walked off and we were left standing in the foyer. She came back after a few moments and said you can have that table over there pointing. The room was small but nicely decorated and the large window looking out over the dam was lovely. How nice it would be in the summer if they had a deck. The room was fullish with most of the tables all ready having received their food. The menu was short but simple, my boyfriend decided on the steak sandwich and I the egg benedict (the S had been crossed out ?) Our order was taken quickly and food arrived not long after (what happened to the 30 minute wait?) Not sure what the hollandaise sauce on my egg was but it didnt taste like hollandaise and the whole dish was on the cold side of warm. My boyfriends steak sandwich equally unimpressive and not exactly sure what the house made sauce/relish was, and his was also cold. Disappointed, though not deterred we stayed for dessert. The specials board read Golden syrup dumplings with raspberries and vanilla ice cream, ooooh sounded good. Unfortunately we never got to try it. Our places remained uncleared for over 15 minutes (perhaps this is where the 30 minute wait was) and when they were taken away there was no offer of dessert or coffee. After 10 more minutes of no further action from the wait staff we left. Wont be returning or recommending.
