Mislead by youngsters. My wife and i had been told we could get fantastic bar meals at this establishment. We tried it last Tuesday and did not even get to taste any food. It was a warm Spring day so we chose to sit in the beer garden. My wife chose a seat while i ventured inside insearch of a specials menu. It was very quiet in both areas and i approached a young man behind the bar and asked him very clearly and politely if he could show me the specials board as my wife and i had heard good things about their grilled steak and chips. The young man seemed qhite polite at first and brought me two menus. He did have a slight bumptious air about him but at that stage i gave him the benefit of any doubt and took the menus outside to my wife. We looked carefully at them and wer shocked at the prices. They were more expensive than some restaurants and either way this space has no views and is not cosily decorated. at all. We discussed our situation and as the Shamrock is just up the road i decided to have a quick drink before looking for something more reasonable to have for dinner.I approqached the bar and as it happened i was approached by the now even more bumptious bar man. I ordered a Guiness and he proceeded to pour it as if he was pouring a cherry cordial. I have drunk Guinness all over Eire as well as in England,New Zealand and South Africa and i have never seen it poured in such a disdainful manner. When i received this swirling mass i asked him if he always poured it like this and instead of apologising and offering to redo it he started to argue the justification of his actions and was recalcitrant in his attitude. I found his attitude sneering and disdainful and i told him so. He continued to try and justify his methods and finally offerred to pour me another correctly.By this time he had missed the boat and am hoping the very Irish publican reads this and gives him a good old Irish spray. What a poor advert for an Hotel which proudly claims to be hotel of the year.
Arrived with a party of 10! Greeted by Lauren who attended our table all night. She provided excellent customer service, was very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Meals enjoyed by all, definitely value for money!
Not like. Taste average. Staff nice. No value. How’s that for syntax?
Dr Syntax Steaks Sizzle. Hey the food and wine here is great, get in there for a beer and watch the footy with a mate, Try fhe oysters too, Or pick a meal from the specials on offer for you, This pub is doing well, And the staff sure are swell, If you like management that is friendly and hands on the Irish publican’s welcome will appeal, and best of all this place offers a delicious meal.
What a surprise. My friends and I stumbled upon this great pub tonight. Walking past heard the music and thought we’d step inside to check it out. The buzz was fantastic so we decided to stay and eat. How glad we are that we did! The meals were beautiful and the friendly staff created a great atmosphere. Apparently they have live music regularly so we’ll definitely be back. Thanks for a great night Doctor Syntax!
Donna’s Birthday dinner. On Saturday the 7th April I celebrated my birthday with 15 close family and friends at the Dr Syntax.The staff are always happy and welcoming with a real feeling of enjoyment in their workplace.The food,atmosphere and decor are all warm and delicious and pleasant to the eye.Everyone loved their meals and had only positive comments about the whole experience.Thank you to Livio and all the wonderful staff for making my night so wonderfully relaxing,fun and happy.
Excellent family friendly atmosphere. Great staff and the best pepper sauce in Australia! Value for money. Will be back.
