Very solid, really good Italian, the Veal is to die for as is the gnocchi! Good selection of wine, consistent pricing excellent service! One of Tasmania’s longest continuously running restaurants….. Over 60 years
carbonara is king – on a whim I decided to take the family out for dinner (an excuse for a night off cooking) & I decided on Don Camillo. When I entered the restaurant I didn’t realise it was a fancy one. The decor was elegant & cosy. I panicked about taking kids, but the staff were nice & after a glass of wine I relaxed. We had garlic bread (yum, not greasy), pollo involtini (beautifully presented), vitello cotolette (good but salad was too salty to balance the cheese & crumbed veal) & kids had fettuccine alla carbonara (this was a hit with the kids & this was the best dish of the night). It was thebest carbonara I’ve had in years.
This has always been a real favourite of mine. There are always very friendly and attentive staff. It’s a very nice dinner setting and the food is delicious and authentic. My favourite is the Pollo Involtini, chicken breast wrapped in prosciutto stuffed with capsicum served on a delicious basil pesto gnocchi!
Yummy Food and Good Service. We had arrived in Hobart on a Friday and wandered down to Sandy Bay Rd to find somewhere to eat that evening. We called in to Don Camillo and they gave us their last table! So happy. I had the fish of the day which was really nice and my partner had the fillet steak which he said was excellent. This is a very nice restaurant and I can recommend it.
If you want a great Italian dinner, here you get it. Lovely food, beautifully presented. Generous portions, friendly service, we had a perfect dinner.

Saturday night we visited for a special anniversary, the was superb and the service excellent. This is one of the best Italian Restaurants we’ve been to. Thoroughly recommend it.
