Oriental Delight. While staying at the Wrest Point we went looking for something different from the European fare offered there. We stumbled upon the Oriental and were delighted. It’s traditional Aussie Chinese done well. The banquet menus are particularly good value for money.
I’ve always loved going to chinese restaurants that have modest decor and look like they’ve been there forever .. Why ??? Because more often than not , they are good . No exception here . Had the prawn and ginger dish , which was very nice . My girlfriend had the vegetables and tofu clay pot and loved it . Thumbs up , I’ll be back on my next visit to Tasmania to try some more dishes off the menu . And yes , we visit Tasmania frequently 😀

Extra charges…. What’s special about this restaurant is what they charge for.Of course there’s the usual offense: charging per rice bowl instead of per person, and surcharge for amex.Interestingly enough, though, they also charge for cut chilli (a request for chilli sauce brought confused looks about what chilli sauce was) and they even charge you for hot water(!!!!) That’s got to be a first.Food’s ok, although unremarkable. If I came back it would be for take away (there’s some reasonable value on their takeaway specials) but Duc’s take away is easily better.
