Cascade is the brewery of all cascade beverages. A fun place to visit when in Hobart. We had the cider paddle board which was well worth the 12$. The surrounding gardens are gorgeous and the food while quite pub style is very tasty. Reasonable prices
As this is such a popular destination for tourists, you would think they’d be serving up some good dishes. We were let down with the pulled pork pizza ($24).The base tasted like a McCains frozen one from Coles. Toppings were… ok, couldn’t taste any chili in the mushrooms. The sauce was good but the base just really let it down. Fish and chips were better ($26). The fish was treated with respect, it was tender and juicy, batter was very crunchy, however the chips were just warm and soggy. Side salad was very nice, but it was all very hard to eat on such a crowded plate. Decent portions but below average food at a steep price. I’d say save your pennies and go somewhere else.
Fairly ordinary brewery in comparison to some of the others around Australia which is a bit of a pity considering its heritage. Apart from the old brewery building and nice gardens, I wouldn’t be running to see much else here. The food is very average and the beer ordinary.
Solid pub food with great outlook into the gardens. Staff were friendly and attentive. Club sandwich and lamb skewers were good. Nothing fancy, but solid fare.
Ordered a tea and coffee pre brewery tour. The tea pot had floaties that ended up in my tea. The milk had floaties but I spotted them before I poured. The flat white was more like a latte but tasted good. After the inability to clean a tea pot and a milk jug, we decided that we would skip lunch at this location after the tour and head back to Hobart. Notified the desk and got an apology but there was no time to repair before we ran off on our tour. Edit: when I came back from tour, the lady I told very happily gave me some free product and apologised again for the issue. Thanks 🙂
Menu very basic. Stock standard pub grub. We had the Antipasto Plate which was rubbish. It was large but the stuff on it was ORDINARY. Formed up from rubbish from the Coles deli counter. Cold cut meat not fresh at all. Far too much cold cut meat. Not enough variance. Tiny ramekin of the ‘grilled vegetables’ which were clearly not house grilled as the menu claimed. The Pies probably looked the winner from the menu from what we saw go to other tables.Beers are basic. Good average styles. Where was the brewery release seasonal beers etc. They could do with a marketing guru to come in and overhaul the place.
The food is very average, the beer is rubbish, the interior decor of the restaurant is poor. However the gardens are beautiful and the old brewery across the road looks amazing. Value for money is also great with cheap beer (paddle is great value). My tip would be to go on a nice day and sit outside or even better take your drink up the hill a bit to the rectangular ponds with a view and chill out there.
