When in Strahan this is the only place to go, great service and the food is exceptional, we had the duck roast and the Blackened Miso Trout and Gummy Shark. Weve been to Nobu in Melbourne and had their blackened miso cod and I can truly say this is well on par, here the servings are extremely generous, the prices are very modest and the food was prepared quickly with great presentation. Highly recommended and definitely highly rated.
We heard great things about this place. I ordered the Thai beef salad and my partner had the mushroom risotto. We shared the mezzo plate for entree. The mezzo plate was great (although it said it came with olives and there was only 4 ). The size was definitely big enough for two. My main was good but a bit too much with the strong flavours. My partner really liked his risotto. Its a lovely restaurant with a nice seating area and alfresco, but no air-con inside and we must have come along on a rare hot night.
The food tasted okay, but not for its price and certainly not for the lousy service. We walked in at 6:15 pm and waited for one hour for the food, just to have the table cleared in less than 30 min after the food was served while one of us was STILL eating. For a restaurant that serves a 39 dollar fish menu, which all four of us had ordered, this type of service is unacceptable. There were plenty of empty tables, no one was waitig outside, yet they put in no effort to take care of their customers (had to ask to refill the empty water bottle) and busied themselves with kicking us out. Was not a happy customer at all.
Fresh, balanced, modern, flavour-filled dishes. We ordered the gnocchi- so light and fluffy, the oyster fritters with an amazing salad, the barramundi in paper parcel (perfect!) and baby fried chicken (my least favourite dish but my son really enjoyed it). Plus chips and garden salad to share. I believe this would be the best place to eat in Strahan, and no more expensive than most others. Good local wine list, but the prices are up there at $13.50+ per glass (although this seems normal in Tas). Service was good. Would very highly recommend.
Incredible! Forget the rest !Welcoming & unpretentious. Brit & Fran are delightful at front of house. The Chefs are on top of their game.Presentation is stunning. The food is generous & sensational. Owner Steve seems a great bloke. If only you could take the place home as a holiday souvenir! Please move to Perth!
