Came here after reading reviews on lonely planet. Shared the mussels as an entree and they were excellent. Very fresh local produce. I had the chicken for main which was a little dry but otherwise very tasty. My partner had the lamb shanks which were amazing. Service was very friendly and prompt. Great selection of local Tasmanian wines. Very reasonably priced. Would definitely return.

We ate here last Sunday night. The food was great. We tried the gnocchi and the quail which were pretty good. Had the lamb shanks and eye fillet (both pretty good as well) and finished with the dessert tasting plate which had some nice surprises! The wine list was good – and definitely try the sticky dessert wine and the ice Riesling. Both local and worth the money. Reasonably priced, good honest food in a great part of Tasmania. Definitely try this place if you get the chance. Ps. Staff were competent and knowledgable. Will come back again.

Great location on the hwy not far from Coles Bay. Excellent menu with quality meals that are reasonably priced. The crispy skin salmon was amazing and have been craving it since! Friendly staff and prompt service. Local I fried t’s used and Tasmania beers and wines to choose from.

MIA. A few weeks before my stay in Swansea, I tried to make a booking. I called about 4 times, trying nights and days, but nobody ever picked up the phone. Since they had no answering machine, I decided to email them to make my booking. The manager confirmed the time and date. On the night of the booking, we arrived to find the restaurant closed and deserted. No signs with explanations of why they weren’t open, no sign with their business hours. I was extremely disappointed, after all the trouble I had gone through to get a table.

Great regional restaurant. Last night was our second time here. I had the salmon and my wife had the seafood linguine again. I had 1/2 dozen oysters (natural) for entree and they were sensational. The seafood chowder was likewise excellent.I had been hoping to have the confit duck again but it was off the menu that night. No matter, I think that the salmon – served with blue cheese panna cotta, walnuts and prosciutto wrapped asparagus was possibly even better. All in all a great meal. Service was great. Thoroughly recommended.

What a nice find in a small town.. The Banc was a really pleasant surprise and many other places could take a leaf out of their book. Fair prices and good food. Isn’t that what every diner wants? My partner loved her confit duck and I had the seafood linguini. Both were excellent. The service was very novice, but it turns out that the apprentice chef was our waitress for the night. As a chef myself, I reckon every young chef should do time on ‘the floor’ to understand the other side. Lovely night out and I can recommend The Banc.
