The fact that this place sells Vietnamese style eggy rice cake is enough of a reason to give it 5 stars- anyone who knows me knows I Froth rice cake in any form and can tell you all the best places in Melbourne to get it. This one was small, but definitely worth the $12 price tag. Accompanying it was a papaya salad, the sauce of which was a great addition to the rice cake. The peanuts and fried tofu also added depth and texture. Finally, some veggie spring rolls served with mint and lettuce leaves rounded out the meal.

Pro tip: wrap a bit of rice cake, a quarter chunk of spring roll and a helping of papaya salad up in a lettuce leaf, dip in chilli sauce and enjoy. It’s near perfection.

The decor here was another thing that sold me on the place. They obviously out some attention into details, such as their cute plates, shutters decorating the space, and paintings on the walls and windows. For a slightly curated Vietnamese dining experience, Co They Quan is a top pick for Richmond.

Tonight we came hear for a cheap and cheerful dinner on our way home. We started with vegetarian spring rolls, they where a bit bland, but where okay with paired with the generous amount of Vietnamese mint and dipped in the sauce.

I ordered the stir fried chili and lemongrass tofu with vermicelli noddles, this tofu had the most amazing texture and flavour, they really managed to get the lemongrass and chilli combination infused inside. This was a seriously large dish, full of noddles, salad and hot boc choy. I couldnt finish it!

My brother ordered the hog plums salad without the beef jurky. He said it was a flavour sensation with the dried shredded squid and dried shrimp.
