The fit out was great, food (barramundi with egg) was ok, bit bland, service was a bit off, we went on a Sunday so perhaps they were a little hung over? Would go again to try based on other reviews, but my experience was average.
Staff were very friendly, great variety of food and the flavours were delicious, we loved everything we ordered except for the lamb ribs, unfortunately they were far too fatty and had that lamb smell and they were deep fried, I think they wouldve been much better if they were beef or pork ribs. Will definitely return to try other things on the menu.
Good go to place for drinks after work. However the music can get pretty loud on a Friday night. Got the cheeseburger today which came with meat patty, cheese, and pickles with bread. Also came with some fries on the side. It was an extra $3 for egg in the burger and it added up to $23. It tasted average and was a bit expensive. A colleague who got the fish burger enjoyed it more. Perhaps will try that next time.
Its funny how you walk past a place and you dont give it a second look because you make an assumption about it. Well thats what I thought about Dr Morse Bar, it looked dark and not too inviting until my partner took me here last night.
How wrong could I have been?? This place has a front bar, and a HUGE beer garden out the back w another bar and this place was rocking, woo hoo hahaha
But we went for dinner. We were expecting some standard bar food but once again I was completely wrong. Too many great choices led us to order a feed me menu and that they did.
We ordered Kingfish cerviche which was not included in the feed me menu and this was an amazing starter.
We then had pickes and bbq edamame which was sooo good, then some delicious fried rice, broccoli and some really moist and delicious chicken. OMGosh the chicken was soo tender.
For dessert we had a Vietnamese bao bun and this was amazing, such a wonderful way to finish dinner.
Dr Morse support local ethical farming practices and the wine list supports similar principles. Everything was fantastic and the service was outstanding, thank you.
What a wonderful night, and no more assumptions for me! If you like good food at very reasonable prices, visit this place next to Victoria Park train station.
