Terrific pub in Alexandra that offers top quality meals and service. Chef was accommodating to our needs & was able to whip up a delicious vegan meal for me of roasted pumpkin, spiced lentils, with raisins & pine nuts. The rest of the family were equally impressed with their meals also, so a supreme thumbs up from us!
Greeted with a smile, we had an exceptional travellers lunch here of a southern fried chicken burger and soft chicken tacos that was just sensational. Good quality ingredients, not oily, beautifully prepared and presented. Clearly the pick of the offerings in Alexandra, which vary. Very pleasant staff, service and price in contrast to the average 3.9 rating. Definitely the place for lunch. Don’t be put off by eclectic decor. This is a winner.
The new owners have taken this place from an everyday pub (there are 4 in town) to the quaintest and somewhat quirky place to spend your time. I haven’t seen the renovations to the rooms but I’m told they are just beautiful and a lot of thought has gone into the layout, colour scheme and those special touches for guests. The bar part entry is right on the corner and you walk into a warm and inviting space that sets it apart from other pubs nearby. The menu is simple and extremely tasty with generous portion sizes along with speedy service. A great collection of wines to choose from as well as beers on tap or by the bottle. The cafe part which you can enter from the street or via the pub is very inviting and although I’ve only visited once, was completely taken by the very ‘Australian Country Style’ magazine feel to it. Nice decor that is generous in chair size and equally comfortable to sit on. Light, airy and extremely calming place to ‘hang out’. This along with simple whole food wth a touch of eclectic culinary treats, it’s a great place to meet up with friends or family as well as sit and enjoy the countryside. Toilets are spacious and clean. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Staff are attentive and lovely. A must visit when in Alexandra.
Could be a 3.5 but not 4.The rabbit was cooked tough to eat. And it’s a bit too expensive for two finger big rub it meat. The duck was nice, like the vegetables as well. Lamp is the cooked perfect, but the sauce could be a bit sweeter. I think that could be much better taste.Beef cheek is not much taste, but I like the rest things in that dish.
A beautifully restored pub with a lovely. On the day we visited the weather was lovely and we sat in the outside area at the rear which has been very tastefully designed. We had brunch and enjoyed the Big Breakfast and poached eggs and bacon. The kids pizza went down bey well. I would recommend if visiting Alexandra.
