  This pizza is not only the Best in the West but the BEST in Australia. $14.00 for a large family pizza approx 40 cm. diameter is just ridiculous. This started as a trip down memory lane as we ate these pizzas when we were in the Air Force at Laverton in 1989-1991 has become a homage to the true artisan roots of Italian pizza in Australia. The same brothers run this shop as they did in 1990. In Perth I would pay $29.00 for this same pizza probably with less authentic ham. Make the effort and cross the bridge or if you are like us and from WA, cross the country. What you save on pizza might contribute to your fuel bill.

  Fantastic pizza. Nice base that wasn’t too thick and lots of topping. Well cooked and juicy. Can’t beat Paul and Dom’s method…been there for 20 plus years. Good value you for money as well!

  We love this place. Spent my entire life in Altona and this is our regular pizza fix on a Friday night. Spaghetti pizza is made with love! Never wait more than 20 minutes for pickup. It’s all about quality and quantity and it has not changed over the years. We love Don and Paul, never leave us!

  Surprisingly there are no reviews yet so happy to add my 2 cents. Best in the West is located in the quiet western part of Altona not far from Westona station. This is a typical non-Italian self-serve take away pizza place with some tables and chairs to cater for the very hungry. The owner is very dedicated to his job and there are quite a few customers popping in regularly.

  I ordered a large Mexicana at the counter and it was ready within 20 minutes. Size of the pizza and amount of the topping is plentyful and similar to the other pizza places in Altona as pictured. The quality is good and ingredients form a good mix of taste and flavor. The dough is much much better than the other places in Altona although it is a typical American pizza with thick bun like base.

  I enjoyed it and can recommend. On average it’s 1$ cheaper than Fat Tomato and Pizza Box and there much more to eat as the base is thicker. The only area of slight concern with these take-away pizzas around Altona is the dark brown color of cheese on a ready pizza what is likely linked with a cheaper Mozzarella alternative as opposed to a proper Mozarella that does not get that dark every time. Still edible so no need to worry 🙂
