I would not recommend this place to anyone who has allergies/ lactose intolerance. 2 different staff members assured us that the slice we’d ordered was vegan, so we took several bites before realising it tasted like it had milk. They then checked the ingredients for us (after us asking several times), and it turned out to be not vegan. Avoid.
We have been here a couple of times now . The lies are lovely I can’t wait to try the smoked fish next . Great milkshakes and cheap water etc if you are running across from the beach
Not sure what the point of their take away window and pie warmer is. Had to wait 20 minutes for a take away pie. They stock the delicious Ka pies – so such a shame I won’t be coming back in a hurry!
Great food. Great atmosphere. Great staff.

Do yourself a favor
Great lil cafe on the esplanade for pokemon hunting! They’re making a killing from all those late venturers. We were here from above 9pm monday and place was still opened, serving the off hot foods and coffee. Got a chocolate milkshake, which was ok -lil choc flavour and very milky in fact. Havnt tried anything else. Good location, plenty of parking available. Quick service.

Norfolk gets a sea front view of Altona beach and the bay, we were there catching Pokemon and kind this store in a very convenient location. Food wise we had a hot dog and a hot chocolate. The hot dog was ok, but it’s very cheap and the hot chocolate was like a chocolate shake, it was very creamy!
Sad to say this place has new owners, and its definitely not a go to for us any more. The old menu and some of the old staff remain, but weve found them woefully understaffed in the afternoons (if they bother to open at all), with the owner trying to do everything themselves. Have waited over 20 mins for a take away coffee on more than one occasion, even though there was hardly anyone else there.
We still come here sometimes, but its not our regular haunt the way it used to be.

Our favourite local. They do simple, home cooked food. The soups they’re doing for winter are delicious, and a steal for $8 with toasted ciabatta (Pea and ham, and lamb and barley are our favourites). I also love their Norfolk bacon and egg sandwich. Nana rolls are also excellent, and they have a good variety of cakes and pies.
Best views in Altona right towards the beach. Although all seating is outside so maybe not best to visit on a wet day (pretty well sheltered so cold weather is fine).
Note – I’ve upgraded to a 5 as this place has really hit their stride and we’re here once a week at least now. Coffee is consistently great and their $10 soup and toasted sandwich deal is the best meal I’ve had in a long time!
Nothing fancy, but just thoughtfully made food.
