I honestly never thought we’d be able to find this quality of pizza so far from home. This is as good as, if not better than any pizza we’ve had in Melbourne. Aside from the pizza, the staff were all incredibly friendly and happy to be working at 8pm on a Friday night. Hats off to the team involved. We had a New York and Cals Capricciosa, both outstanding. Apologies for not posting any photos but we couldn’t help but dive right in. The venue itself is a beautifully kept rustic space with a warm interior. Visited for dinner so we unfortunately missed checking out the gardens. Say hello to the friendly Nadine in charge! We’ll be back and look forward to it.
Absolutely amazing! We didn’t make a booking (as recommended) but the staff were very accomodating, maybe because we arrived at the opening time of 5.30! Would definitely recommend booking to everyone else because it would be so disappointing to miss out on eating here! FoodWe had the New York pizza and the Scotty. Very different pizzas to one another yet both amazingly delicious. The New York was more of a Napoli based pizza, the salami was sliced thin and evenly spread all over the pizza. The Scotty had dotted around the delicious pork and fennel sausage over the pizza which was complemented by the sweetness of the caramelised onion, this was more of what I would call a Bianco style pizza, equally delicious. The sticky date pudding was steaming hot and fluffy, the sauce was sweet, the pudding was that moist I didn’t need that much sauce anyway! Yum! Great finish to a great meal. DrinkGreat selection of beer and wines. I tried the Tar & Roses Tempranillo and the El Niño Sangiovese. I preferred the flavour of the Sangiovese but each to their own. My partner was driving so it was great that they had the Peroni Leggara (mid strength). Nothing beats pizza and beer! There was also a great selection of soft drinks too, the classic Hepburn springs flavours. There was also an elderflower drink that I would have loved to have tried but I was too busy with red wine.Service Everyone who served us was polite and friendly. They were all informative when we asked questions about the menu. They were happy to make our requested changes to the pizza (no smoked cheese) and they went out of their way to make up a chilli oil for us! Legends! Which on getting this chilli oil made for us really confirmed the high level of ingredients that they use in their cooking, the olive oil had a great green tinge to it and tasted phenomenal, I wished they did doughballs as an entree and served them with this olive oil and garlic butter! I wish I had got our main waitresses name so I could say thank you here (short curly blonde hair)SummaryIf only this place were closer to Melbourne! Will definitely be recommending to my friends. Anytime we’re up this way we’ll definitely be back!
Always a delight to visit! Wood fired pizzas are to die for, service is amazing and the atmosphere is fantastic. Local produce sourced for the pizzas, majority of it from their own garden out the back. Huge rear yard if you feel like dining outside amongst the veggie patch or pond, with an outside fire during the cooler months. Can’t recommend highly enough!
The best pizza in Victoria, without a shadow of a doubt. Proper, Italian-style pizzas – quality over quantity ingredients. If only the rest of Australia took note on how the Italians make a pizza!
Rolled my eyes when someone told me this was the best pizza in Victoria. Was I glad to be proven wrong. Honestly, this is the best pizza I have ever had (excluding one insane pizza-by-the-slice place in Rome). The first time I came here they undercharged us by forgetting we ordered drinks and we were so happy to correct them because we were so thrilled with the meals. Definitely book a table in advance. Enjoy the beautiful garden out the back. And get the garlic one, you won’t regret it.
