BEST BUTTERFISH. Down in Avoca on Good Friday, we were sticking to the no meat tradition for the day and were after some good fish and chips. This place was recommended to us by a friend who had been in the area before, who said the butterfish was the best he’d had. We were sooo glad to have taken his advice, as the fish really was lovely. What made it so good was the light, thin, crispy batter. Nothing ruins a great piece of fish more than a thick, chewy layer of batter! It was perfect!Suprisingly though, they had NO tomato sauce left at 6pm on Good Friday!!! (lucky theres a milk bar open until about 9pm in this town!)Two days later we returned for breakfast before our trip back to Melbourne, and although the food was good, a few mistakes were made by staff and they did try to over charge us (on purpose or by mistake, I dont know).Nonetheless, I will make a point of stopping here for fish and chips if in the area again!
