Always find this cafe to be good. Friendly staff, good food and great coffee. Have been many times and will continue to. Parking can be a problem
Cafe Lekker is a great place for breakfast or lunch. The food is consistently good and the staff are usually nice to deal with. Prices are reasonable, food enjoyable. It’s a busy venue though, so if after a private or intimate environment, it’s not the place. It’s very popular, so it can be hard to get tables or a park. It’s good that it’s popular though and the food, drink and service are the reason for this.
Popular breakfast spot, although I personally found it a little underwhelming. The smashed avo was mixed with Meredith’s goat cheese- delicious- but it was really just a smear. I thought that it was a little pricy for what you actually get on the plate, and it isn’t the most filling of serves. Nevertheless, it was quick and efficient.
Nice little cafe. Always served good and tasty food but average coffee. Nice and cozy atmosphere. Decent prices. The service was ok but staff could be more friendlier.
Ps. Love them freshly squeezed orange juice
A great little caf! My family and I spent a night in Ballarat and found this caf whilst looking for our first meal when we arrived. We ordered from the breakfast menu and they were delicious. I had the Tuki sausages which was really nice, the mushrooms were perfectly cooked and had such flavour, as did the grilled tomato and hashbrown. My mum had the greek lamb sausages which came with mash, green beans and brocoli i think. She loved it too. Was disappointed as I initially wanted to order the special Garlic Prawn Risotto and they had sold out, but to be fair it was almost 2pm when we arrived. We tried the green tea matcha latte which was only alright, more milk than matcha taste. We ended up coming back the next day and I managed to get the LAST portion of the Risotto (at 1pm). Was really nice and not too heavy, highly recommend it. So if you’re in Ballarat, stop by Cafe Lekker and you won’t be disappointed! Service is good too and we didn’t wait long both days we were there and it was the weekend. Will be returning next time I’m in Ballarat! And i’ll make sure I get in early so I can get that Rissoto again! 🙂
For a small caf located away from the dining strip of Sturt Street, Caf Lekker is one busy establishment. The food here is well done – the breakfast of poached eggs, salmon and avocado is plentiful and tasty. Special mention must go to the hollandaise, which managed to convert a staunch non-hollandaise-ee. Iced chocolate was a terrible chocolate syrup concoction; admittedly ordering an iced chocolate as an adult was cause enough to send out such a dreadful drink.
Service is friendly (if a little chaotic, with our table receiving four different wait staff), and coped on a very busy, hot and noisy morning. The caf is kitted out in a strange mix of kitsch and cool, and whilst I’m not sure if they pull it off, there would be hoards of regulars ready to disagree with me.
Overall a recommended eatery for regular meals that are cooked well. Avoid if you’re dining with someone hard of hearing.
Always friendly and accommodating, and still, without doubt, the best breakfast in Ballarat….by a mile. You won’t be disappointed so give it a go!
