One of our favourite places in Ballarat, we have been dining here for years! However it has changed the last couple of times we have gone. Once our order was forgotten and Steve took care of it, so unless Steve is there the place doesn’t run so smoothly.
Food!!!The mock pork with rice is amazing, tempura with wasabi sauce and rice paper Vietnamese roll is amazing. Which ever dish we have had has been delicious. However I think the chef in the kitchen has changed in recent times and food isn’t consistent now.
Parking in the street is a little straining (since the council has changed the road and new restaurants are coming in).
Make sure you know the operating hours to avoid disappointment, call them and reserve a table.
Now I’m on restrict diet now. So I miss our nights at Chat for Tea
A great alternative for those with different dietary preferences than the usual steak and three veg. Unfortunately, the political signage in the window at present has put me off going in there again.
Chat for Tea serves beautiful vegetarian & vegan food, full of flavour! Expect to wait a long time for food, each time we have visited we have waited over an hour for entrees, with no explanation or an apology.

Chicken Nugget, Satay Chicken Skewer, teppanyaki chicken and steak! Wish they have another outlet in Melbourne.
This cute little restaurant is a must visit for anyone who appreciates delicious vegetarian and vegan food! The owner is lovely as are all of the staff. Order the gyoza, it’s a spiritual experience.
As a vegan living in Ballarat it’s so wonderful to have Chat for Tea close by! Delicious, well-priced meals, relaxed environment, and friendly customer service. The best soy nuggets going around!
Even of you’re a meat eater it’s worth considering. The many vegetarian options will suit most tastes. Go in with an open mind that’s all and you will have fun.
