The Cornerstone Cafe’s the place you wish you had just around the corner and the fantastic thing for us for the last four months, it HAS been! Reliably great coffee with a relaxed and friendly ambience and wonderful food, mostly created in the kitchen at really good-value prices, it’s not surprising that it’s very popular with a wide cross-section of Ballarat locals and visitors. We’re heading back home to Tassie but we enthusiastically refer friends and family to here as a great catch-up spot on the edge-of-town but still having a very accessible, good-vibe location. Come to think of it, maybe it’s a touch of naturally wholesome Tasmania in Victoria…Mmmm…we’ve had the best of both worlds! Keep up the great job, Wes and the team!
A little gem tucked away a short distance from the CBD. We popped in for an afternoon tea on our way from Ballarat to Geelong. The building and decor is old and quaint. I wish I had a place like this near us in outer suburban Melbourne. I had a long black coffee and the Boss a hot chocolate. Matched with a pair of Macarons (one passionfruit and the other caramel) and a Florentine it made for a lovely break.
Service not very friendly, coffee not very good and difficult with kids. Food was fine but tainted by the service. Not a great experience, wouldn’t recommend.
Looks nice from the outside, however the combination of awful, loud top 40 radio and disappointing food makes it feel like a service station cafe. I will actively avoid returning
Disappointment with the result of new owners. Attended here on 6/5/15 and it was immediately obvious that something had changed. All food in the glass cabinet was covered in cling wrap and looked tired and old. The most simple of changes such as choice of music have caused this cafe to lose its charm and sophistication. Upon being served with our regular coffees and foccacias it was evident that this was just another cuppa that could easily be sourced from McCafe. I really hope that the new owners can see what they have done to the cafe before they lose any more customers. They have lost our regular business and this is no longer my favourite cafe in Ballarat.

Best In Ballarat. Fantastic atmosphere and consistently good coffee. I will go as far as saying this cafe makes the best coffee in Ballarat. Would like to see them get their chef back and providing more meals as opposed to just foccacias/cake etc.
Pleasant atmosphere. Great coffee.. Cafe Cornerstone offers terrific tasting coffee, especially their cappuccino, with delicious date scones an optional extra for patrons wishing to indulge themselves. The butter with the date scone is a generous proportion. The atmosphere makes this Cafe something above the ordinary. Anyone can make a coffee, however the environment in which one enjoys it adds to the experience in a make or break manner. Cafe Cornerstone ticks all the right boxes.
Lovely. Nice coffee, lovely light meal options and very friendly staff. The old building has been lovingly restored and has a nice atmosphere.
