OVER PRICED!. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala for $13.90 (take away) and then i had to bye rice for $4.50. It came in one of those plastic take away containers (med size one). 2/3 was rice!!! So for $18.40 a take away Chicken Tikka Masala (which only had 2 pieces of chicken in it and was 2/3 rice) you can have a very expensive lunch.
Fabulist indian food and service. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of Curry Star’s fare and wonderful service.
The new proprietors are serving authentic tasty food from a variety of Indian regions and to suit all palates.
We were their early on a Thursday evening and the restaurant was quite full by around 7.00pm, so word is spreading about the terrific food and good service on offer at Curry Star.
Vegetarian and seafood options are extensive, as well as the classic beef and lamb.
I am looking forward to trying their black lentil daal and something from the tandoor on my next visit!
What’s more they offer a S10 lunch including a glass of wine, so it will not be long before I return.
We went for dinner with a two for one shopper docket voucher and were treated like royalty from the moment we stepped into the restaurant.
The ambience is excellent and Curry Star is located in a gem of an historic building. The decor is contemporary, but sympathetic to the building.
We enjoyed a mixed vegetarian entree platter, Goan fish curry and a Goan paneer curry, along with saffron rice, garlic naan and raita.
Everything was truly fabulous and very authentic. At least as good as any of my favourite Melbourne or London curry houses!
We took our own wine and were charged a $2.00 corkage fee,
We also enjoyed a masala tea to round off our meal.
The new proprietor has also opened an extensive and reasonably priced Indian supermarket at the rear of the building.
I urge people to make the effort to head to Dana Street, seek out Curry Star and enjoy their extensive selection of beautifully prepared Indian delights!
Perfect for a catch up with friends, or work function and with suitable ambience and atmosphere for a romantic dinner for two.
Function rooms are available for special occasions and meetings.
Highly recommended!
Really enjoyed. We really enjoy visiting the Curry Star. The food is first-class Indian food. Service is very good and price is good value for money. The venue is very comfortable and nicely decked out. Highly recommend for dinner for two, group dinners, lunch ($10 special!!) or take-away. We will be back.
Birthday party at curry star. We Celebrated our daughter’s first birthday party on Saturday and had about 35 guest plus children, it was such a pleasure to have it at curry star rest. the food was exceptional, the variety of dishes were truly amazing. I spoke to Venkatesh regarding birthday group booking. He is the one looking after food and service side. Function room block for us and buffet setup with around 25 varieties.
All my guests were fully satisfied with the food and service. we truly recommend this place for any occasion. And special thanks to the organizer Venkatesh and the staff there for making it a very memorable day for our family.
Awsome family night. I have died here with friends and family on several occasions and it has never failed to satisfy us. the food is very nice, and everyone enjoyed very much.
Came here on a Saturday night and were worried that there was no one here. Four of us got banquet 2 and it was so so delicious! For under $40 it’s all you can eat multiple entrees and mains with dessert and sides. Absolutely love this place! So surprised to find it empty.
Very quiet on a Tuesday night, good ambience although it seemed they were trying to save money with lights off. Was sat next to the fire place, had very very quick service and delicious entrees. Mains were great and I was impressed with the real Indian flavours they contained. Beautiful food, highly recommend.
