This cafe has such great perks. A huge play area for small children and a projector in its main area. They have the ingredients to make this place a Ballarat institution but sadly is not.
The food was quite nice but small portions at South Melbourne prices.
The reason for my rating though, is agreeing with the previous review. I went there with my bub after midday. It was a very quiet time, yet every table was filthy and three high chairs (unused) filthy too. When I went to pay for my meal I asked for my table and high chair to be cleaned. The response was oh, ok Ill try get up there, weve been busy so Ill try get up there. I was close to asking for a refund and leaving. Youre a food outlet. You cant try to clean tables. They had more than enough staff. It took close to 10 mins for someone to come. He cleaned a high chair against the wall then walked away. I had to call him back to clean the table and the filthy high chair at my table.
Im disappointed. You cant charge South Melbourne prices sand not provide an equivalent level of service. Oh and cleaning after customers in a cafe is not an option, sorry.

There were four staff or more on, so should be able to at least clear tables.
Breakfast sandwiches here are great – big doorstep bread with generous filling. The BLAT sandwich is a winner with lovely aioli mayonnaise. Homemade sausage rolls are also great. The big breakfast is a bit pricy for what you get in comparison to the other breakfast options though. Great coffee and friendly staff, and a big kids play area in the upper room. Nappy bags supplied too – a nice touch for parents!
Lunched here today at around 11:30 am and I chose their Chicken Breast marinated with smoked paprika & spices, grilled & served with warm quinoa & a tabbouleh salad for $18 along with a side of chips for $2.50. The meal was served hot in just under 15 minutes of time of ordering. The Chicken was quite nice but the overall meal wasn’t anything to rave about the the chips needed a few more minutes cooking time. The service provision was very good.

Beautiful coffee, great selection of gluten free cakes and lunches. Yummy focaccias and soup. Reasonably priced and with a beautiful gift shop next door!!
