Bangers and mash were good, needed a little more gravey, cutlets were tasty, good friendly service and atmosphere buzzing, good wine selection.

Very loud and noisy pub and packed to the rafters with kids everywhere. Lucky we had booked and shown to our table which was in a tight spot next to a busy thoroughfare. Once seated we thought this wasn’t a good choice. Decided to stay and we both ordered the lamb shank. They arrived within 10 minutes, beautifully presented and looked fresh and vibrant. The meat was perfectly cooked and fell off the bone with a sensational jus on a bed of sweet potato mash and crispy green beans and broccolini. Well worth the visit!

The Western is a great place to go in summer, especially if you like sitting outdoors. The venue is very groovy, I love the music on Friday and Saturday nights and the layout of the pub. The bathrooms are nice and I like the super force hand dryers.

Food leaves a fair bit to be desired and as a consequence I usually go there for drinks, but not for dinner.

Wife and I dined here with high expectations as we moved to Ballarat from Melbourne recently, The truth is it was ordinary not the place its flash alright (The Food ) wow how hard is it to cook gnocchi and lasagne and the barmen arrogant and not a smile to be seen unless there chatting to there mates and avoiding everyone else ………….Avoid!

Nice, clean fresh interior. Liked sitting in a booth under the big 1950s photo mural. Really enjoyed the slow cooked beef sliders, which had a tasty sauce and brioche buns. Husband enjoyed the bangers and mash (nice peppery gravy), kids meals a good size and all veggies cooked properly (not overcooked). Friendly service and meals quick to come out. Would return.

Came here and ordered the chicken, leek and mushroom pie. The taste of the pie itself was okay, but the portion size was very disappointing. It was smaller than a four n twenty pie. The chips were Te highlight, hand cut and crunchy. But the salad was pretty awful. I’m not sure what dressing was used, but it needs improvement. A lot of the other meals I saw however looked nice, so I will be giving this joint another chance in the future

Love the gnocchi here with or without chicken it’s my favourite. My sister loved the chicken Caesar salad also. Love the bar area. I always make sure if going in my lunch break to get there and order at 12 because it gets really busy.
