Herbal taste isn’t as strong so it might not appeal to everyone, but offers a good range of meats. Don’t forget to try the onion rice – goes great with the bak kut teh.
Heard great things about this place before we came. We are a little underwhelmed by the quality of the dishes. The presentation is top notch, it came in the clay pot, the smell and the meat too. However the soup is lacking that herbal flavour. The dry Bak kut teh also bland considering it supposed to taste stronger than the soup. The vinegar pork is vinegary and that’s it not much of other flavours.
Here’s another Uncle to welcome into the family. This place is up there with Aunty Frankylee and Uncle Testu….they all serve great food off the back of a limited menu. Sometimes less is more.
While it is a little bit on the pricey side, Uncle Jerry’s bak ku teh (traditional or dry) is second to none. Expect the vinegar pork to be fatty, for obvious reasons, and their onion rice is a must try.
Service is on point and parking is easy.
Here’s to my favourite Uncle in the Eastern suburbs!
Came here to try some authentic Bakuteh.
Very small place, service was friendly. Very simple set up. Base of the soup was nice and rich. Highlight of the places is their onion rice. Could eat their onion rice all day.
I don’t think I’ve ever had outside Bak Kut Teh in Melbourne before, not that I can think of anyway…
Came here for a work lunch, and I must say the food is pretty good. BKT isn’t something I usually order when I go out to eat, and I haven’t really had this much variety before. Apparently it’s quite close to what you’d find in Malaysia. (Though I have not really had BKT in Malaysia in a while)
There were dried BKT (with sauce) as well as soup BKT. They all had that herbally and claypot taste to it, which I thoroughly enjoyed. ESPECIALLY with rice.
Though it is a bit expensive, this is a place where I would definitely want to come back again. That’ll be soon
UPDATE: Came back here on Friday and didn’t disappoint! Had their onion rice this time, and it was so good! Who doesn’t like shallots! WITH RICE! Also, advice is to come with a group so that you may order a variety of their BKT! They do have different sizes, good option as well if you’re in a small group.
