An impromptu meal found us here, with a hankering for CKT. The service was very friendly (even cheeky, in a good way) and the venue was clean. Despite the kitchen being within the dining room, the ventilation was excellent. The CKT was well executed – very fresh ingredients. Not that I’m complaining (as I love the egg gravy) but it seemed a little like a Wat Tan Hor with the amount of gravy covering it. Just a point of difference I guess. Looking forward to returning to try other items.

Ordered three vego noodles to take away. Pity that the chef couldnt add ginger to the noodles.
Chai kuay teow was the best with some chilli oil to spice it up.
Hokkien noodles was a bit boring, lack in flavour. Noodles were nice and chewy more like Shanghai noodles but I was expecting the dark sweet ABC sauce.
Flat noodles with egg and green veggies was ok.
All the noodles were quite oily.
Service was fast and very friendly.
Fantastic Malaysian hawker restaurant. Glad to see some authentic dishes on the menu, mixed in with more common Aussie favourites. Servings are very generous and we struggled to share 3 between 3! Ipoh chicken rice, Char Kway Teow and Dry egg noodles with chicken curry were all delicious. They have a wide selection of Kueh and take home food available. Grabbed ondeh ondeh and Kueh dada for dessert!
Only area for improvement would be the speed of food and service. Only one waiter who struggled managing a packed house and making drinks. As is pretty common with hawker style, food comes out as is ready and not always in order. E.g. our curry puffs hit the table last.
This impressive new Malaysian eatery is off to a good start. The interior is nicely set out although at capacity, I can imagine it being a little squishy with some tables and chairs arranged close to each other.
Service was warm, friendly and efficient. On to the food….their char kuay teow had the prerequisite crispy pieces of lard and generous amounts of prawns and fish cake. It was tasty enough with a hint of the all important wok hei.
The combination sar ho fun was serviceable – the egg sauce was slightly darker than what I would normally expect but it tasted ok. The Ipoh chicken rice was today’s weakest link – the rice seemed slightly under cooked but the chilli sauce that came with it was well spiced and authentic.
So all in all, a nice experience and we will be back to try their desserts….that mango sticky rice looked amazing with all those colours!
Happy to discover a hidden gem in local suburb. The fish head noodle soup is stunning, especially in love with the fried fish head ( so fresh and yummy).
Highly recommend for anyone looking for authentic Malaysian food around the suburbs.
Friendly staff and clean interior. Food comes at a reasonable time and the char kuay teow is one of the best in Melbourne. Chicken rice and mango with sticky rice was also good.
