We ordered ubereats last week on a night in and waited for about an hour for our meal. We called the restaurant and they were waiting for a driver for some time. We messaged ubereats but they were not very responsive. The food itself was good. The curry puff was small but tasty. The meat spring rolls were average. We got the Musmun curry chicken which was a bit too sweet. We enjoyed the basil chicken the most.
We were very disappointed. Ordered delivery through Uber Eats, which was fine, no issue with that whatsoever.
We ordered massaman beef curry, and were expecting small chunks of tender beef, in a rich, thick sauce. What we received was a very sweet, thin soup with slithers of shaved beef.
We also ordered red curry chicken and were disappointed with the very sweet soupy sauce.
The roti bread was not impressive.
We ate enough to satisfy our hunger then trhough the rest in the bin.
We got takeaway. What was I thinking? I was quietly hoping for delicious authentic Thai, because I know it is possible in Melbourne. But its Surrey Hills. Our usual is Osha down near Glenferrie Station. Cheap and good. Unfortunately, our food from King and I was terrible. The green veggie currie lacked any traditional Thai veggies. Instead it contained big clumsy slices of celery, cauliflower and other random vegetables; the sauce was watery and sickly sweet. We also ordered deep fried bean curd. I was expecting some nice fat glossy pillows of soft curd but instead we got lots of rubbery bits jammed into a container of revoltingly sweet brown sauce and it was all beginning to feel very sad. The tofu came with finely chopped vegetable: peas, capsicum, carrots, spring onions. It looked like Italian ratatouille and not Thai. Our noodle dish seemed to have all the same vegetables as all the other dishes. It looked and tasted like suburban old lady Thai, for people who have no idea what their Thai food should look or taste like. Very dumbed down Thai and totally inauthentic. So depressing!
We were watching a Thai travel show so felt the need for pad Thai tonight and got Uber Eats from King & I tonight. A good tasty tangy Pad Thai with chicken. We also ordered a Green Chicken curry and roti and peanut satay. The green curry had a great amount of heat. Foolishly we forgot to order rice but had it in ramekins almost like a soup instead. Delicious. Probably best Uber eats Thai Ive had in the area and quite a quick delivery time.
