If you like roasted quail, this is the place to go. A speciality of Mabrown, this is a dish to order! Its lightly fried and coated in a slight chilli sauce.

The hot and sour Thai style whole fish was also my other favourite dish, it wasnt spicy and had a great flavour and comes with veggies.

We also ordered the stuffed tofu, beef and black bean, spinach and roast duck (the duck was slightly dry).

You need to book particularly on weekends, a sign of this restaurants popularity. And also pre-order the quail.

Overall there were some good dishes here, I would recommend if you like quail.

When the restaurant called me back immediately after receiving my online booking to inform me that I have over-ordered, I think I really need to learn to calm down and be rational when ordering. Apparently I ordered enough food to feed 7, when there was just the 3 of us. Even after I amended my order, we still ended up having leftovers to take home. Goes to show that the portion size here is fairly generous.

You can’t come to Mabrown and not get their famous quails. Moist, tender, crisped and beautifully seasoned, these babies were delicious to the last bite.

The yong tofu (tofu stuffed with fish paste) was my least favorite dish. It was rather bland and the texture of the fish paste was more similar to a fish ball. On the other hand, the curry fried snapper, and curry chicken were full of flavour. The former was more Indian curry fish head type of sauce, and was smoother and creamier. The latter was the Malaysian style curry and was more piquant.

The atmosphere and overall cleanliness were nothing to write home about, but the service was polite and helpful enough. Just come for the food and you’ll leave satisfied.

The food is fantastic. Must order the quails – they were so yummy. The shandong chicken were pretty good too. Although service was pretty average, I would still recommend this place for the food. Also you must order the food a few hours in advance before you arrive.

BEST. QUAIL. EVER. must order in advance, though. The service wasnt really nice. The waiters werent very friendly, but the quail was definitely worth it. Ideal for large family dinner, because it was a family-style dining. Definitely recommended! The service was pretty bad though. We had to wait for one hour for the food. They served people who came after us first. Had to ask many times before we get our food.
