Was really interested to come here based on reviews and the photos. On arrival, the 2 ladies behind the counter didnt seem too interested so I pointed to a table asking if we could sit there. After a while the one who seemed to be in charge came over and said something about not noticing us. We ordered the karaage chicken burger, gear 4 which was beef pattie, jalapeo, chips, onion rings and the naughty boy. Everything arrived except the naughty boy. Being a drink I assumed it could take a while. Burgers were tasty, buns great, onion rings perfect, chips a little under seasoned but good enough. Still no drink and no smiles from the staff behind the counter. I didnt want to chance it and paid the bill to which I was charged for the drink. No apologies. Just do you want your drink now, I said no and she gave me the cash back as I had paid by cc. Interesting place like I said but in an area where JDs and Burger Burger exist, I think maybe they need to pay a little bit more attention to what the customer experiences.

We were invited to One Plus Piece a Japanese and American fusion licensed cafe located in Whitehorse Rd, Balwyn to try their new summer menu.

The caf is definitely not your ordinary looking caf. Inspired by the Japanese Manga which are comics created in Japan in Japanese from the 19th century the decor truly pays homage to this fascinating concept. When we walked in, we were amazed at the number of figurines, posters and merchandise. It gave the restaurant an incredible vibe and certainly something we hadnt seen before. There was also a pleasant outside area to sit in but we chose to sit indoors amongst all intriguing decorations.

Perusing over the vast menu it was difficult to decide what to order everything sounded so good. The menu caters for everyones taste ranging from the health conscience poke bowl to those that enjoy a hearty burger. The drinks and shakes list was also extensive!

Once we had finally decided we ordered the One Piece Double Burger, the Gear 4 Burger, the Japanese Fried Chicken Burger, Beer Battered Onion Rings, the Peking duck side and The Wagyu Beef Poke bowl (which was on the specials menu). For drinks, we had the Black Rock Shake, A Coffee Shake and the Strawberry Shake.

We were extremely impressed with all the food we ordered. The burgers were scrumptious! The beef was cooked perfectly and the other ingredients were fresh and tasty. They were faultless.
One of the standout dishes to us was definitely the Peking Duck with chips. The duck was cooked well nice and pink and the chips were hot and crunchy. Its really a must try.

The shakes were also amazing albeit somewhat difficult to eat with all the amazing lollies and toppings on it (not that we’re complaining!!) there were things like sour straps, maltesers and wafer sticks and much more. They were a work of art to look at and tasted just as good.

We also loved the Wagyu Beef Bowl. The beef was tender, cooked medium rare and the garlic soy sauce was a great accompaniment to the dish. The slaw added a fresh and crunchy element and it was all delectable.

The service was great with helpful and courteous staff that made you feel right at home. You must go and check it out go through the menu One Piece Plus One Plus Piece at a time!!

I have been so excited to try One Plus Piece for ages, and finally got my chance last weekend!!

The theme of the restaurant is Anime, which I dont know a lot about, but I absolutely appreciated the effort thats gone into it. Amazing theming and figurines etc everywhere, its such a great vibe! We sat out the front as it was a nice day, but inside is very very cool. Staff were very pleasant and friendly, even though they were under the pump because it was busy.

We were super excited to try one of the freak shakes. We ordered the Red Haired Shake which was awesome. The toppings were delicious including sour straps, marshmallows and wafer sticks! And the shake itself tasted great. We also ordered the One Piece (double) burger, the Peking Duck loaded fries, and the Wagyu Bowl (which was one of the monthly specials). My husband had the burger and loved it, and I LOVED the wagyu bowl. The beef was so tender, and I wanted to bottle up the garlic soy sauce. The loaded fries were exquisite. The pulled duck pieces tasted incredible, and the sauce/Grady was amazing.

Thoroughly enjoyable experience and I would highly recommend it for either your healthy poke bowl, or cheat meal! Thankyou for having us, we will definitely be back!

Exceeded expectations. I usually think with themed cafes theres more effort put into the theme than the food but food was excellent. Unique burgers and the shakes are crazy good. (Recommend sharing as really rich)

I will also add some pictures of menu as prices have been adjusted, few more items added.

I have only ever ordered Ubereats from One Plus Piece but was glad to have been invited to dine in and try out the menu as had I not I would have missed out on the fascinating and fun interior taken over by manga anime figurines and imagery. The menu is quite roaming and we arrived at 10am anticipating ordering off the breakfast menu but were soon tempted by the other sections. I had the northern fried chicken burger which came in a. Black bun with crunchy coated chicken, a subtle wasabi mayo and hash fried inside. Too easy to eat… it was so good. The salmon salmon poke bowl was also delicious with the added pop texture of mini caviar and a choice of white or brown rice, or coleslaw base… we chose brown.

For brunch dessert we had no room for a freak shake but enough space, just, for a freak style sundae named Hi-Pop with popping candy, marshmallow, Oreo and other goodies. Kellie, who tends to avoid dairy for dietary reasons even had a try, accepting the consequences that came later.

Coffee was smooth and flavoursome. They use Au79 beans, Mork hot choc and there was a quality about everything we tried today.

    Thanks for having us in.

We decided to try this cafe and were pleasantly surprised. From the anime themed decor, to the intricate presentation of the food, we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We got the duck Benedict which was a winner, the beef burger which was delicious but a bit heavy, and the chilli scramble eggs. Would definitely go back to try more!

So colourful it might as well be a restaurant in an Anime itself!

We ordered the Pink Lily Smoothie Bowl, Meat Free Fries and the Black Rock Milkshake or should I say Freak Shake!

The star of the show in terms of wow-ing and presentation would have to be the Black Rock Milkshake! It came and my mouth dropped at how HUGE it was. Tbh if I were to name it, Id call it When you have a bad day and youre at Coles. It is any sugar tooths dream come true! Its loaded with every candy bar you can think of, fairy floss, whip cream, candy itself and so much more! Id recommend 4 people to share it as the cost is quite a bang and the size…. to say its huge would be an UNDERSTATEMENT.

The Meat Free fries were pretty good too! The Mac & Cheese wasnt just regular kraft ones and the fries were actually cooked pretty well! We were kinda disappointed coz they ran out of duck 🙁 but oh well.

The Pink Lily Smoothie Bowl took quite a while to come but when it did it was delicious! The portion was crazy huge too! Id say for $15 it was really worth it!

If youre a fan of One Piece, this place is definitely a must-visit! The food is really good too to be honest! Service was just a little… eh. But overall, Id come again for the fries and to try other stuff!
