The ex-owners of Phoenix Soars are behind Supreme J so expectations were high when I dined here. Save to say, expectations were met!The roast meats are not to be missed, especially the roast duck. The BBQ pork had great flavour but just sliced a bit too thick and thus a tad tough. Another favourite was the deep fried chicken ribs with salted egg yolk. Really can’t go wrong with this dish. Crispy, tender chicken ribs, generously coated in salted egg yolk batter – so moreish. On their recommendation, we tried the seasonal veggies in pork consommé, and what a robust and rich stock this was. We were also recommended the tofu with minced pork and preserved veggies, and this was another dish that was big on flavours.Last but not least, the fried crispy egg noodle with shredded pork. Another delicious dish that was executed brilliantly. This place was packed with customers on a Saturday night, and it’s not hard to see why. Excellent food and attentive service, what more can you ask for?
We dined here after seeing a movie at the very closeby Balwyn Cinema. It was a good food experience. It’s a nicely appointed place with a good fit out. It was buzzing on Saturday night and a bit noisy at our table squeezed in between two others. We had some vegetarian spring rolls which were delicious. Our main dishes were deep fried king prawn, stir fried mixed seasonal vegetables – some broccoli – and Char KwayTeow. They were all very good dishes without exception. Couldn’t fault them. And, decent sized serves too. Service was good through out too and we thought the bill was very reasonable. A nice experience. Recommended.PS, the movie we saw btw was Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. It’s not for everyone, but we loved it.
Very compact space, we sit in the path, forced to join chatting from neighbouring tables. Traditional Cantonese flavour but quite salty. Less than average value In terms of the price ($30pp), tastes and environment though it’s within walking distance to my home.
We I walked into the restaurant, I see too many tables and messy. The food platting is fine. I could taste this dish is a Cantonese prawn with peanut and dried chilli. It’s a bit disappointed. The service is fine. It’s a normal Chinese restaurant, no surprise
