only had dumplings. Got Fried pork dumplings and steamed chicken and prawn. As i love dumplings i enjoy them but they were very tasteless. I also thought the chilli oil was very mild.
Yang got works at Bayswater. Shanghainese style restaurant. Dumplings are ok and authentic food. Just a bit too sweet even for a Shanghainese person.

Fresh food , friendly service . We always have the fried dumpling , fried rice and the fried garlic pork bones. It’s delicious . The fried garlic pork is the best
Where do I begin? For starters, this place has literally 100% copied the menu of David & Camy Noodle and Dumpling in Box Hill. I thought given the menu was identical (even visually) that the food would be as good, maybe same owners? Upon asking, there was no relation. Strange. Ginger and Shallot beef with rice was incredibly saucy yet somehow lacked any depth of flavour in the abundance of sauce. Portion was massive and cheap, however did not compensate for lack of flavour. Pan fried pork dumplings were unnecessarily oily and after 10 minutes on the plate actually became submerged in a congealed jelly on the surface of the plate. Gross. The food was not worth the calories and gave me the runs that night like any cheap, miserable Chinese food does. Sub standard.
I love this place! Great food all round from dumpling and rice to mains.
Nice family atmosphere and comfy settings make it for easy and relaxed casual dining
A long time stayer in Bayswater. Good Chinese food that is very reasonably priced. We didn’t try the dumplings which they are renown for but we’re satisfied with Chinese broccoli, salt and pepper squid and Indonesian fried rice that wasn’t really Indo but still tasted good. Great for families on a budget and those looking for a quick meal with excellent portion sizes.
Was back here last night after a hiatus as we use to live 5 mins away.
The dumplings have always been very good and rest of the menu pretty good. But it’s the fried pork dumplings we come for. We’ve eaten at many dumpling places in Melb but I find the dumplings here to be consistently crispy yet non oily.
Shanghai fried noodles is also very good too.
Anyway I wouldn’t have tried here if I read just the reviews, yet the overall score is 3.8 so I assume they have quite a number of happy diners who haven’t provided a written review.
I didn’t see the infamous lady owner last night, not sure if she still owns the place but she’s never provided bad service to us- just indifferent to good service to my 2 young kids and myself.. It seems like they majority of the poor reviews are generally service related so I thought I’ll balance it put a little. I’ve too stopped going to places have have been provided bad service So I understand both side of the coin.
I read one review that complained about credit card fees and didn’t take AMEX. F@%k me, the food here is cheap as and I surprised they even accept credit cards at all.
I’ve paid $200 a head at Heston’s and they also charge a credit card surcharge. Laska King don’t accept credit cards, they simply have a private ATM inside their restaurant! lol
