Came here yesterday night with my partner, we came here because it was two minutes from the place we had to go after we had dinner we had 45 minutes to spare so we thought quick yummy dinner – we were wrong. when we walked in there was two couples on either side of our table. When we ordered our entree and mains there were more people coming in, we got our entree which came within 5 minutes which was fine with us. Then the people who came after us got there mains before us. 10 – 20 minutes go by and my partner and I were too busy talking to realise that we still haven’t got our mains, we had 10 minutes before we had to be at where we needed to go so my partner asked if we could get it take away when he asked the waitress was shocked we wanted it take away, I said it’s because we had to somewhere and we have waited soo long for our food. She said fine and didn’t say sorry for the long wait or nothing but people’s food who came after us got taken to them still while we were waiting for our food to come so we could go, we finally got it and left. My partner and I didn’t have it for dinner at all because we got home late and had it for lunch today instead, most of the time when I have any Asian food the next day it’s ok. It was oily and gross no flavour at all, felt bloated straight after. Worst service and food ever
The worst take away meal I have ever had. They couldn’t provide chopsticks for takeaway. Singapore noodles wet, soggy and dishwater taste. Satay vegetables swam in a tasteless soup. Horrible experience. When I phoned to explain, they hung up on me. I won’t be returning.
Finding a restaurant open at 8pm on Christmas Eve was challenging, and I’m glad we stopped here. There was a real rapport between the staff and (the obvious) regulars. Lots of joking around. It was great to see. That didn’t stop the staff being professional and attentive. The food came out quickly and was delicious.
1 – Dim Sims: delicious. On the sweet side.
2 – Chicken & Cashews: tasty. Meat was tender. Nice crunchy vegetables.
3 – Satay Chicken: great. A little spicy (which was nice).
4 – special fried Rice: tasty. Plentiful.
Out of all the local Chinese restaurants in this area and Mentone, this is the nicest.
(I took half a point off because merchants fees are charged back to the customer for every credit card.)
What a rude culinary disaster Gold Stream is!! Lately we started to buy weekly takeaway of the same order Chicken sweet corn soup, spring rolls and the green chicken curry. We have put up with the odd wrong rice in our order, watery soup can’t find the chicken but the chicken curry is my favorite. Tonight there was something very wrong with our order. The soup was as usual runny and I counted 5 minuscule strips of chicken disappointing, when we tried the green chicken curry it was awful, not a curry taste, instead it tasted creamy and buttery and the sauce usually thin was thick and gluggy. When I phoned to complain the old waiter was RUDE as I returned the balance of rice and curry containers approached his young female accomplice was equally RUDE. A replacement curry was not offered I didn’t feel like trying our chances on anything else so I asked for a refund . Getting a refund was incredibly difficult (the old waiter walked off) and then his female accomplice argued with me that there was nothing wrong with the rice so why a refund and where was the rice balance missing from the containers I returned . She handed me only money for curry . It was only after my insistence and request from the chef I was given my refund. $4 not the point the utter disrespect and disregard by the staff was shocking! Not on !! Unacceptable! Never again! Save ur money and don’t eat from here.
So glad this restaurant is local to us. It has to be up there with the tastiest Chinese food we have eaten. Chefs special eye fillet steak is an absolute must!! Fantastic service, owner is very friendly and welcoming.

Went to Gold Stream for a birthday dinner Sunday 13th Dec 2015. Usually get takeaway but decided to eat in this time. The food was absolutely delicious. We had three entrees which were home made dim sims, chinese roast pork and rice paper chicken to share for two. We then had sizzling beef and special fried rice. To finish we had a classic fave banana fritters. $53 for 2. Very nice to have this restaurant in our locale. Give it a try.
