  I took my husband to Rocks for Valentines Day dinner and we were blown away with the food and service.
  We opted for the set dinner which included scallops, peiking duck, Moreton bag green curry, porterhouse steak and chocolate tart for dessert:)
  As frequent flyers of the Melbourne food and wine scene I can confidently say that this place is a match if not better than lots of Melbourne one hat restaurants.
  Their dishes were very tasty and well proportioned that we felt happy and content.
  The ambience is romantic as its set in the old NAB bank building.
  Reasonably priced too
  In total we highly recommend this dining spot if youre visiting beautiful Bendigo

  Set in an old renovated bank, we were asked on arrival if we minded stairs. We were then shown to a secluded table in the intriguing old vault area. Great atmosphere which was perfect for an intimate chat. The menu is good. Good food and good service. The chef managed to accommodate our friends special dietary needs. The French champagne was great. I would recommend this for anyone after a visit to the Bendigo art gallery,

  A group of 9 of us met in Bendigo to enjoy eating in a regional city followed by a visit to the regional gallery. The Rocks Shefali Sunderan Harshad@ining room is relaxed sophistication. We ordered and waited quite a while for our meals, but we were busy chatting. Disappointment followed. The meals were adequate. For example, angel hair pasta was actually spaghettini. The Thai yellow curry would have benefited from a simple segment of lemon to squeeze over it to cut the almost cloying flavour. Lemon supplied once asked for. Wrong wine served. Bread is charged for, which I resent. After the food was delivered we didnt see the staff again; were not asked if we wanted dessert, more mineral water, or tea / coffee. Next visit to Bendigo Ill eat somewhere else

  We had ordered steaks for a party of four, and our experience was underwhelming. Firstly the waiter who took our order kept on sitting on the seats next to us when taking our order. Maybe it was meant to keep eye level? But I’ve never had waiters sit on the seat next to me.

  We also had to wait a ridiculous amount of time for our meal which was just two porterhouse steaks and two wagyu skirt steaks. Up to an hour. The couple next to us, came, ordered, and finished before we even got our meals. The porterhouse were done well. But my friend and I ordered the wagyu skirt steak, medium. Both turned up well done with one steak tasting particularly off. As in paste the used by date. We compared steaks and hers definitely did not taste right. We called the waiter who took it back to the kitchen and returned saying that the chief didn’t think that there was anything wrong with the steak. But they did kindly offer pick another dish. Unfortunately, the whole ordeal was so drawn out and long that my friend didn’t want to make us wait for another steak as we had other engagements. So she left after nibbling on the side dishes.

  We thought this was a one off, and my partner returned with his family to try this place again. They got the mocktail orders wrong and served cocktails instead, waited a long time again and got the steak orders wrong. The order was for four porterhouse and was served four ribeye steaks. They didn’t think the steaks looked right on presentation but were so hungry from the wait that they just gave up. To have two bad experiences, I will not be going back for dinner engagements in the future. Maybe we will try lunch one day, but I expect the wait staff to be better versed in hospitality and getting orders right.

  I really loved this place and higly reccomend it. The atmosphere was fantastoc the waiters awesome and on the ball. The food was devine. We had the scallops that were perfectly fluffy, the asparagus was nice but needed a hint of balsamic or sometjing tangy, the pork belly was juicy and the sauce was perfectly sticky, the lamb shoulder had all the right flavours and textures to makes the four of us foght over the last fork full but the bruschetta took the cake the simple ingredients just worked like magic. We topped the night with a espresso martina cheese plate and desert. I cant wait to come again soon.

  This was an old bank from the days when Bendigo was a major financial centre, the underground vaults transformed into trendy little niches to hang out in. The atmosphere is very cool and the food is quite delicious, though we were here for a group function and didn’t eat from the main menu. Those tender scallops were simply amazing!

  Wow ok this place has a mixed bag In the review box and now I know why. What a way to send out 2016. Not. Unfortunately, today, we experienced average at best. It’s a venue with a menu that’s simply trying way too hard and stumbling at the most important hurdles. The service was lovely enough but that’s not enough, and for the price, well, clearly the goldfields have dried up in Bendigo.
