What a great night! Booked for my Rotary Club from Emerald in Dandenong Ranges, as we had travelled up for a conference. Added a couple of extra people at the last minute, which was no problem. Tim and Sam were wonderful. Fun and relaxed atmosphere, service excellent, food was delicious (loved the croquettes and swordfish) and delectable desserts, not to mention a brilliant shiraz recommended by Sam. Thank you!!
Interesting cafe/restaurant located in an alley where you have to search for. There was a change to the management from when I visited many years ago. An impressive wine/beer list was what I noted at first. The pork belly with scallop risotto was delicious but could be improved with a crispy skin or crunchy textures. Overall interesting to see what this cafe could deliver in future.
Being in Bendigo for the day I was told to come here by a mutual friend so I thought I would give it a go. I ended up enjoying myself very much. The coffee was nice and balanced with a slight sweetness to it. As I wasnt that hungry I asked for some recommendations. The chicken buns were one of his options. I tried them and they were slightly spicy for my liking but I found them light and filling. It is a wine bar and if I wasnt going to drive later I would of had a glass to compliment my food. Next time I am in the area I will go back for it.
Very inviting atmosphere, cosy, warm, hygge. Friendly staff. Great food. Particularly impressed by the duck pancakes and Brussel sprout salad.
Had a very disappointing breakfast today. Bacon & undercooked eggs were served with sliced white supermarket bread. Advertised as avocado, roasted tomato & apple balsamic, a smear of avocado was served on white sliced supermarket bread drowned in balsamic glaze. What was advertised as fresh, light hash browns came out as flat gelatinous patties. Our Aperol Spritzs seemed to be lacking the star ingredient of prosecco. While we could forgive the owners explanation that his baker had let him down with the bread order, the calibre of the food in general was lacking & unappetising. And the Aperol Spritz did not meet the advertised promise of a touch of spring. All in all, a sad breakfast. PS: Coles actually sell a very nice sourdough.
Went here last night for a later dinner and it was such a wonderful experience. The staff were amazing so attentive and helpful. Food was delicious we shared prawn toast, mushroom steamed buns and had the duck. Tim was just awesome – they have only been operating for 4 days and you would think they had been there years. Great job guys we will be back soon
The places seemed nice and quant. We asked if any tables are available for two the waiter ( which in the end we found out is the owner ) said there is an hour and 15 min wait for a table. We looked around to find more than half the place is empty. We were offered outdoor dinning which we agreed too. We were given a piece of paper for a menu and a 100 page booklet for alcohol with what we thought were extremely over priced for overseas products without any Australia products. Menu items didn’t explain what was actually was being served. We started of with two cocktails and once these were served not quite what we were hoping.. and extremely overpriced small portion compared to what we would get in Melbourne. My partner asked in a joking manner about one of the items which wasn’t clearly described, which was answered promptly. We ordered a crab bun first up and I must say was exceptional. But that’s were it ends…
My partner ordered the duck which was slapped on plate with a spring onion just plucked out of the veggie patch, roots and all I would assume the gritty parts would be soil?eggplants were ok…overall not much taste I had the steak and that is all I got… No garnish, just a lemon and some red sauce that came out of a bottle. The meat was cut up like I was having a kebab. A very small portion. Both meals were plan and over priced for what we received. We had to buy a side a chips which looked to be packed chips served again with bottled sauce. We had to order another crab bun as the amount of food did not constitute a meal for which we ordered. We finished and went to pay. The owner was the one who was at the counter. We said in a polite way that the meal wasnt to our expectations for the price he was charging. The owner took our money the said that WE were very rude and that our expectations were that we were getting a pub meal. For the record a pub meal was served better than the rubbish we received. The owner has serious height issues and should concentrate on offering very well presented meal with taste and substance for the price you ask. I gave him a few choice words of my own as I was quite upset. We stormed ( 40 minutes later with the place still half empty! Mind you!)out and passers by said did you receive the small piece of meat we both laughed and said yes. The people also said he is well know for lack of food the price that is asked for. The kind people also said he is a very rude and arrogant little man. Don’t be fooled by what is outside or the atmosphere it’s all a ploy to take your money off you beware. Poor service all round in the end.
