I have eaten here many times over the years and have never been so disappointed as I was eating here recently. Yes it’s Christmas and busy but the young lady serving was gruff and impolite. Then the pizza I ordered was outrageous for the price. The pizza base seemed to be a frozen base from a supermarket with a really ordinary topping of meat lovers slathered with bbq sauce. I won’t be eating here again. Sad that a once half decent restaurant has deteriorated so badly.
We had a function upstairs in the balcony this October. The staff were great in the lead up, they worked with us so we could look at the venue multiple times. They were very up front about the cost, there were no hidden suprises. The food was delicious. We had quite a number of people with different dietry requirements and they catered for them all. Special shout out to Jenna for making sure everyone got their food. As an added bonus the Rifle supplied flowers and candles so the place was already decorated.
Went here about a week ago for lunch, arrived about ten minutes too early so waited outside. Upon entering I was impressed by the beauty of the interior, it’s quite a lovely hotel. Service was fast, though as it had just opened, there were just a couple diners there. I ordered braised lamb ragout which was delicious, no complaints. My mother had the beer battered fish and chips.
Started with the Panko Crumbed croquettes, beautifully crisp on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside and a joy to eat when dipped into the aioli. Chose the special being the Lamb backstrap with mango salsa with herb rice and rocket, parmesan and onion salad. It came out on a wooden board which I have a major dislike of, though the lamb was perfectly cooked, nice and pink with a beautiful herb crust. The salad was great but the rice was gluggy on the inside and I ran out of the mango salsa on the last two slices of meat. My friend enjoyed her Caesar Salad but thought the Chicken was a tad dry. The service was excellent at the start but after our mains were delivered it dropped off which was disappointing.
The food was ok I guess for pub fare…. the chicken pannini, though quite tasty was as dry as nuns noona because the chicken was so over cooked and about a cm thick. The actual pannini bread was cold and had been toasted but who knows when!
The staff, as cute as they were in their converse were hopeless. After waiting for the kids desserts for an age , we cut our losses and went through the Maccas
Drive through for chocolate sundaes. Yep…. dissapointing.
I am reluctant to payour on the staff as they are all quite young. Who is the manager or owner?

I can accept ok food with excellent service…but in your case there are too many other options to risk another lunch at your pub again. Bye bye
A truly terrible dining experience. Very poor food and the particular staff member I dealt with was quite rude. Save your money and dine somewhere else in Bendigo. Would definitely not recommend or return. Very disappointed.
