Stuck in Bendigo for business by myself on a Saturday night in the middle of winter, I was drawn to The Woodhouse by the smell of well cooked steak wafting through the night air. Luckily I was early enough that they could seat me on a single table, provided I agreed to be out in time for the 7:30 booking! The attentive waitress left me with a menu, a bottle of mineral water and a glass of wine as I soaked up the atmosphere and warmed up from the heat of the fire. I ordered a steak medium rare with baked potato and some sauces. What arrived at my table was a little slice of heaven! The streak was cooked to perfection and the sides were great as well. There was nothing to do by order another glass of the local red and tuck in!
The meal went down too easily, the time went by to quickly, and before I knew it I was back on the street, with nothing but the smell and the after taste of a great meal to remind me of my experience. Hopefully I will be back in Bendigo soon for pleasure rather than business and when I am I know where my partner and I will be eating – The Woodhouse.

We went there following recommendations and were not disappointed. On arrival we were greeted by a friendly member of staff and shown to our table. Two glasses of water were served immediately, always a good sign. We both ordered pizza, as recommended to us, and again we were not disappointed as both were delicious. Being well satisfied we elected to share the chocolate molten cake, lovely. We shall certainly return.
