Behind the times. With Bendigo being extremely competitive in the hospitality industry now; cafes, bars and restaurants are of a high standard in regards to service, quality and food/drink and the appearance of the venue. This cafe is plain and unfriendly. But what I am noticing the most is the huge turn-over of staff! Which then results in staff being under qualified and customers being under satisfied. For example, twice when I have been there, there has been avoidable mistakes like; not being served after sitting and waiting for 20 minutes and being given the wrong food. The excuses used in both of these occassions were: ‘sorry i’m/she’s new’. It is evident (from what i can see and what i have heard) that obviously the management team are not looking after their staff and therefore experiencing constant resignations and rehiring.
Burnt coffee worst muffin I have ever paid for , sadly we were traveling through and had take away or wouldn’t have paid epic fail twenty 2
Long wait on breakfast with others arriving 20min later, served their cooked breakfast first. 10min wait to order also despite waitress being aware. We were a table of only 2 and a baby.
Service friendly but excruciatingly slow with only one waitress expected to do full table service, clean up, make all coffee incl takeaways, and payment until 9am. We arrived at 8.15. Opening waitress clearly overworked with the patience of a saint. There were 5 tables of two, 3 had already eaten, and 3 takeaways in the time we were there so whilst not flat out, far too much for one person all at once.
Latte was overly hot and on the watery side with a fluffy top.
Omelette was lovely -though god knows why they prolong the wait by getting a waitress to struggle to scoop it out of a pan at the table. French toast would have been nice if the bananas were cooked. As it wasn’t, it was a bit on the cold side. Porridge was undercooked, though kudos for the flexibility of soy milk.
All of the problems with this cafe could have been solved with just one extra staff member on a Friday morning and keeping omelette pans in the kitchen.
We won’t be coming back.
Thumbs up for 22. I get coffee here at least once a week, the lunch menu is good, but it gets really busy for breakfast on weekend
Love 22. I eat at Twenty-Two whenever I’m in Bendigo. I love the food and coffee, and have found the staff friendly and helpful. I especially love the Spanish Omelet.
Clean, great coffee, great food, reasonably priced. Well done! I will visit again when in Bendigo next. Try poached eggs on toast, side of avocado and hash brown, perfect with a latte.
Won’t be returning in a hurry! Popped in for a quick lunch with my friend on her lunch break. We both ordered toasted sandwiches. After waiting 45 minutes, others around us were served their pasta and fish & chips whilst we still waited. Waitresses walked past us and ignore our attempts to get their attention. When we finally asked where our lunch was, the waitress was rude was rude and couldn’t care less. Finally we got our lunch to go, the girl who took our payment was rude and lifeless. Very poor customer service. Lift your game.
