  Medium steak was burnt, with no sauce.
  Chicken was ok for the parma, the rest was pretty poor and wrong sides brought out with it.
  Chips were not very good and no salt and pepper available.

  One of the better RSL’s going around. The Dear Luncher’s colleague who frequents this establishment is a member. As a consequence drinks and food are quite inexpensive and there’s plenty of space to do as one pleases in this establishment. Given the shortage of pub type places in the area; this is a decent venue.

  What can I say , arrived at 6:40 pm was busy , came with 6 other people and some kids , the staff were under the pump and so rude , 2 out of 7 meals came out with In 15 min , other meals nearly 1 hr , half kids meals came then after asking 3 times other main meals finally came after 50 min , but my wife meal just never came, over 75 min we waited , other people that were seated after us were served and left , finally just cancelled the meal after asking 4 times, they did refund the meal , some staff are ok , but other servers were just plain rude , don’t come here on a busy night , they can not handle it, at least the food was not to bad . I would give a lower score , but good kids play area .

  We can drink beer in the vicinity of a indoor play centre? Parents of the southeast burbs rejoice! This place is great for traditional pub food, with a very friendly crowd (older people, kids with families). Their pizza and salad options are probably the best.

  Front-of-house receptionist was amazing. The parma and chips were nice, but a little steep at $24 each. This RSL has been very nicely refurbished, but let down by the serving staff. In particular, the arrogance of the barman (Ayd+n) was beyond belief. No greeting, no thanks, and an overall superiority complex ruined our visit. Next time I’ll waste my $100 somewhere it’s appreciated.

  We walked in one day, very impressed with the venue so open and well done. Nice service and will have to dive into the food aspect more one day maybe.

  Updated review – I visited again after my previously great experience and it unfortunately it was very disappointing. I ordered the burger and it was quite bland, and the bun didn’t taste very fresh. Nut sure if the chef has changed but there was no love in this dish and it has put me off returning unfortunately.

  —I went to Bentleigh RSL many years back (when it was called Salute) and don’t remember being incredibly impressed with it. We had a family birthday on recently, and with a few young kids coming along for the ride, we ended up at Bentleigh RSL at a table conveniently near the playground area.

  I ordered the cajun chicken which came with marinated chicken tenders, patatas bravas, and an avocado salad. It was seriously tasty, and I loved that they didn’t go weak on the spice. It had a great kick to it – but beware if you’re not a fan of heat.

  I also sampled a few other meals including the pizza, and had some leftover schnitzel from the kids’ menu. All the meals were great quality, even if you pay a bit more for the quality.

  Usually the kid-friendliness of a venue is inversely proportional to food quality, but this place is a rare exception. I will return.
